Tsukino Usagi
Agent of Love and Justice, Sailor Suited Pretty Solder...
As the main character of Sailor Moon, Tsukino Usagi is your stereotypical outgoing, fun-loving teenage girl, filled with hopes and dreams. She is the reborn Princess of the Moon Kingdom and the sailor-suited pretty soldier known as Sailor Moon. She was sent into the future, with her powers lying dormant, by her mother, Queen Selenity, after the fall of the Moon Kingdom 1000 years ago. | |
In the present, Usagi lives
her normal life as a dreamy teenage girl, with her
brother Shingo, her mother Ikuko, and her father Kenji.
Though it's seems like a normal life, Usagi's flaws often
get the best of her, those being oversleeping, her being
late for school often, her poor academic performance at
school, her rather ditzy and klutzy character, and most
of all, her whining and crying over the little things.
She is also very dreamy, always dreaming about guys, the
fine jewelry and dresses in window displays, and her
desire to be like her idol Sailor V. All this comes
together to form a girl who's all play and little work. She discovers her identity as Sailor Moon through a talking cat named Luna, whom she found in the first episode being teased and tortured by a group of boys. Luna not only bestows her power upon her through her little compact, but also does her best to teach the rather slow-to-learn Usagi how to use those powers. Usagi's personality undergoes many changes and evolutions throughout the entire series. Though she keeps some of her more troublesome attributes, such as being late to school and her poor performance in school, she matures both as Usagi and as Sailor Moon. One example is her first experience with true love. Another example is through her love with her friends. This alone has probably brought out the most in Usagi, both her best and her worst. She develops a special love and care for her friends, the Sailor Senshi, to the point where she makes irresponsible decisions, and even risks her life and the world just to protect them or save them, such as offering the ginzuishou to Queen Beryl, giving the Holy Grail to Mistress 9, and so on. Her gullible nature is what most often gets her into trouble in the first place, in that she makes friends with the enemy (when she doesn't know who they really are) and trusts strangers so easily. But her love for her friends has also helped her to mature as a Sailor Senshi, in that she loses her crybaby nature and begins taking the fight to the enemy rather than relying on her Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen, and is always there when her friends need her. One of her best qualities that has developed just over the first 2 seasons alone is her ability to make friends with just about anyone she meets. Not only that, but her more cheerful personality is sure to lift the spirits of those whom she is around, friend or not. Who can't help but to love a girl full of love and joy. Though Usagi makes friends quite easily and often cheers them up with just her personality alone, she does have a few exceptions. There is one man who often brings out her more childish nature, especially in the first season. That one man is Chiba Mamoru, the resurrected Prince Endymion from the Silver Millennium and Princess Selenity's true love. He and Usagi immediately do not get along, with Mamoru ridiculing Usagi's kluztiness, low test marks, and crybaby nature. Though she sees him as a bully at first, she can't help but to find him rather charming, especially after she discovers her identity as Princess Selenity and Mamoru as Prince Endymion. It's this revelation that transforms their relationship from near hatred to the "Divine Romance" of Sailor Moon. This love story goes on all the way into the future, where they marry and accend the throne as Neo-Queen Selenity and Neo King Endymion. They have one daughter, none other than the pink-haired spore herself, Chibiusa. Chibiusa travels to the past where she meets her parents in the past, Usagi and Mamoru. Usagi immediately doesn't get along with this little spore either, especially when the little girl flirts with her Mamoru. This relationship too grows as the series progresses, from harsh rivalry to sisterly love with one another. Even with her good traits, and her flaws, you can depend on Tsukino Usagi to be there to lift your spirits or to save your ass from certain doom. |

Moon Power Ni Nare (Disguise Power) |
With the power of the Disguise Pen, Usagi can turn herself into any person she so desires, from a noble guest, to a gym worker, to a motorboat captain. |
Sailor Moon's second transformation. She receives this in the Sailor Moon R season tusing the power of the ginzuishou. |
Sailor Moon's third transformation. She receives this in the Sailor Moon S season through hers and Mamoru's love. |
Sailor Moon's fourth transformation and second in the Sailor Moon S season. She receives this after she receives the Holy Grail when the 3 talismans from the Outer Senshi come together. |
Sailor Moon's fifth transformation. She and Chibiusa together receive this in the Sailor Moon SuperS season after Pegasus fully grants them his power. |
Sailor Moon's ultimate form. She awakens in her true form during a time of crisis, Nehelinia's return, and receives this power from the powers of the other 8 Senshi (minus Chibiusa). |
Attacks
Sailor Moon's finishing move throughout most of the first season. She'll removes her tiara, spin it around a little for show, and throw it at the enemy like a frisbee. At first, it was just a normal attack used to utterly finish off the enemy. As the series progresses, Sailor Moon becomes very adept at using the tiara and has learned a number of tricks with it. For example, it can boomerang back at it's opponent, strike at point-blank range, cut ropes and vines, and other more useful tricks. She's getting good with that tiara of hers. |
This is Sailor Moon's one-time attack, shown in one of the Sailor Moon season episodes cut from the DiC dub. It's very much the same as Moon Tiara Action, but it's used to heal rather than harm. It was used to heal not only her brother, bot a large group of children as well in one swath. |
Moon Healing Escalation (Moon Healing Activation) |
When Sailor Moon acquired the ginzuishou (Silver Crystal) this became her main finishing attack. She'll use her Moon Stick to heal people who've been turned into youma by either Zoicyte or Kunzite. She'll inscribes a circle of dust around herself while saying the words and spray stardust at the unsuspecting youma. |
Moon Princess Havalation (Moon Septre Elimination) |
Sailor Moon's main finishing attack in the Sailor Moon R season after receiving the Cutie Moon Rod. As with most of her attacks in the series, she'll twirl her wand about before aiming at her enemy and saying the words. With that, she fires a crescent beam, utterly destroying the youma/cardian. |
This is the DiC dub version of the attack Princess Serenity used to destroy Queen Beryl/Queen Metallia, as well as a number of other villains, by using the full power of the ginzuishou. However, in both the dub and the sub, this attack is a double-edged sword in that the person who summons the full power of the ginzuishou loses their very life in the process, as it did with Queen Serinity when she sealed the Dark Kingdom. But to complete its purpose, the person who had summoned the power makes one final wish upon the ginzuishou, as Queen Serenity did, and Sailor Moon did in the Sailor Moon season, and the Sailor Moon S Movie. |
As with her other attacks, this is another long animation full of twirls and dance. This is her main finishing attack in the first half of the Sailor Moon S season after she gets the Spiral Heart Moon Rod. First she she dances, showing of a little bit of gymnastics, while twirling the rod around some. This and her next attack probably involve the most spinning in the entire series, though it does amuse me to see her long ponytails spin like a helicopter. At her final pose, she fires a shower of hearts at the unsuspecting daimon, utterly destroying it as it says "Lovely!" |
Sailor Moon gets this attack as her main finishing move in the second half of Sailor Moon S after she gets the Holy Grail. The animation is very much the same as Moon Spiral Heart Attack, except that she fires a more powerful ribbon of hearts at the daimon. |
Sailor Moon receives this attack in the beginning of Sailor Moon SuperS after she receives the Kaleido-Moon-Scope from Pegasus. She uses this attack in conjunction with Sailor Chibimoon's Twinkle Yell. She'll strike several poses, extend the wings of her Moon Kaleido-Moon-Scope, and in a split-screen view, fires a ball of glass shards and energy at the Dead Moon Circus' lemures, with the words "Stage out!" being their last. |
This becomes Sailor Moon's finishing attack in the Sailor Stars Season after she receives the Eternal Tier. If Moon Spiral Heart Attack involved the most spinning, this attack involves the most wand twirling. While standing perfectly still, she twirls the eternal tier over her before holding it above her head, firing many beams of light at the phages, turning them back into human and returning their Sar Seeds to them. "Beautiful" is the phage's last words before reverting back to human. |
Eternal Sailor Moon receives this when Chibi Chibi touches the Eternal Tier and awakens as a Sailor Senshi. This is her most powerful attack yet, next to the ultimate power of the ginzuishou. She pairs the Moon Tier with Chibi Chibi's brooch, extends the bottom of the Eternal Tier, and strikes a few poses before firing off her attack. It's much like that of Starlight Moon Therapy Kiss, only the beams are yellow and are much more powerful. |
