(chuckling) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Past And Present As One By Viper Inferno and Jupiter Star Warrior Part I: A Beautiful, But Odd Day Robert Midorino walks in the park, admiring the beautiful day. The birds are singing as the sun beats on the concrete. He takes in a breath of fresh air, enjoying the nice clean air. People are walking around the park, with some couples holding hands, sick with love. Meanwhile, Russell Hino walks down the trail by the lake with his sister Raye. They too enjoy the sunny afternoon along with the hundreds of other people. The nearby baseball diamond is filled with teenagers having a good time playing a friendly game. Robert turns a bend, thinking 'What a beautiful day'. He then sees a young man in his late teens walking with Raye. 'Looks like Raye got herself a new boyfriend,' Robert thinks as he approaches the couple. "Ah, I'd better leave those two alone. They need their time together," he thinks aloud. Robert retraces his steps, making sure his back was to the couple. He finds a bench next to the lake and sits down. He watches the ducks swim by. Lita, Robert's wife, sits down right next to him. He wraps his arms around Lita as she too wraps hers around him. They enjoy the ducks as Raye walks around the bend, her appearance coming to their surprise. "Raye?! You look different," Lita comments. "You look older," says Raye. "OLDER?! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" Lita challenges, jumping up and towering above Raye. "I didn't mean OLDER," says Raye, "I meant grown up." "Oh!" Lita says as she sits back down and cuddles in Robert's arms. "Lita, I never knew you had a boyfriend," Raye says, mentioning Robert. "Raye, what's wrong with you? You got amnesia or something? He's my husband," Lita says in an annoyed tone. "Really?! I never knew you got married," said Raye. "Never knew?!" Lita yells, "You were at my wedding!" "Wedding!? I never went to any wedding," says Raye. "Raye," Robert silently begs, "just shut up and go with it." "Go with what... Oh I see, you're playing a game. What's it called?" says Raye. "It's called I'm gonna pound your face in if you don't start remembering!" Lita yells as she stands up and stomps her foot. "Um, I'd better go. It's getting late," the terrified Raye says as she slowly backs up, making sure the angered Lita wouldn't kill her. She later finds Russell at the baseball diamond watching the game. She takes a seat next to her older brother. "Lita looks unusual," she says. "How so?" Russell asks. "She looks... well, different, like she has aged a few years or something," she explains. "You could easily dress yourself to look older," says Russell. "Yeah, but here's what's stranger. She has a husband," says Raye. Russell's eyes widen to 3 times their normal size, "A what? She got married. But she's only 14-years-old?!" "Sure did," says Raye, "ring and all." "When?" Russell asks. "I don't know. She said I was there and got mad at me for not remembering," says Raye. "I don't remember you ever going to any wedding," says Russell. "Yeah, it's all so strange," says Raye. Russell notices a man wearing a brown leather vest, a jerkin, quill cap, and hosiery walking along side the fence of the baseball field. "Hey Raye, isn't that Robin Hood?" Raye takes a look, "Yeah, he does look like him. And there're his merry men following him." She points to a group of various men dressed in a similar fashion for Russell to see. "I thought Halloween was just over a month ago," Raye adds. After the merry men disappear into the trees, a group of odd looking men on horseback and wearing armor run in the same direction, appearing to be following the previous group. "And there goes the Sheriff of Nottingham's men chasing them," says Russell. "This is all too odd," says Raye. Meanwhile, Lita and Robert look at the ducks swimming in the lake. Lita lowers her eyes as she tightens her grip on Robert's hand. "Robert, I really should put a bruise on her! I can't believe she'd do that! How could she have forgotten?" Lita says. "Well, she could have amnesia, or something," Robert suggests, "but if she remembered what you looked like when you were younger, then why didn't she remember our own wedding? It doesn't make sense." "I don't know, and it makes me so mad!" Lita yells as pounds her fist on the bench. "Raye did look a little younger," Robert notes. "I've noticed. Hey Robert, that looks like a Roman guy over there," Lita says as she points to a soldier, wearing combat armor, across the lake. "Yeah it does," says Robert, "I thought the Roman fair was last week." "It was. And look, there's a small century not far off," Lita reports, pointing at a nearby group of Roman soldiers. "Weird! What's going on? First we see Raye looking a little younger, now we see a Roman century," Robert says as the Romans leave the scene. "Let's go tell Serena," Lita suggests as she and Robert get up. Raye and Russell leave the park and begin their walk towards home, trying to forget all about Robin Hood, his merry men, and the Sheriff's soldiers. As they walk by Crossroads Jr. High, Russell notices something different about the Japanese flag. "Hey Raye, look at the flag." Raye looks up to see that something is indeed different about the flag, "It's the flag of the Rising Sun." "But, we haven't flown that flag in over fifty years," says Russell. "This is getting way too odd," says Raye, "First Lita looks years older and is married, then the Sheriff's men are chasing Robin Hood and his merry men in the park, and now we're flying a World War II era flag." Suddenly, an old horse-drawn carriage rolls by them. It carries antique boxes and barrels and people dresses like Middle Age merchants. "I didn't know the Amish were in town," Raye questionably says. "Those aren't Amish, Raye," Russell argues, "They look like they're from the Middle Ages." "Like Robin Hood, his merry men, and the Sheriff's men," Raye adds, "Then it looks like the Medieval Fair's in town." "But the Medieval Fair isn't for another four months," says Russell. "Let's get out of here," says Raye, running towards the temple with Russell following her, "This is all crazy." Robert and Lita walk to Serena's apartment. Their minds are filled with strange suggestions for the odd experience. Suddenly, Robert remembers Raye's so called "boyfriend". "Hey Lita, did you know Raye had a boyfriend?" Robert asks as he approaches the apartment complex where Serena and Darien live. The building looms over the street as it rises to the sky. "No, I didn't. When did she get herself a boyfriend?" Lita asks. "I don't know. But she wasn't holding hands with him like we are now. Plus he looked too young for her," Robert responds. "How old did he look?" Lita asks. "He looked younger than Darien, maybe in his late teens," says Robert. "Wow! How strange!" says Lita. Robert and Lita approach the apartment that Serena and Darien live in. Lita knocks on the door, and Darien responds. They enter the room as Darien shuts the door. Inside, Amy, Serena, Mina, and Raye sit at the table drinking tea. "Hi everyone! How are you?" Robert asks cheerfully. "Oh, hello Robert! Hi Lita. How was your day at the park?" Raye asks. "Raye, how did you change so fast?" Lita asks. "What are you talking about? I've worn this since this morning. I never took it off," Raye says, mentioning her clothes. "But you were at the park," Robert argues, describing Raye's previous outfit. "No, I've been here all day, right guys? Plus, I couldn't fit in that old thing anymore," Raye argues. "And you forgot my wedding," Lita says. "I did not! I would never forget my friends' weddings!" Raye argues. "Well, when you were at the park," Lita starts. "I was never at the park! I told you that earlier!" "Raye, I saw you at the park, too. You were at the park!" Robert says in a calm voice. "I was here all day, right Mina?" "Yeah, that's right. She was here all day," Mina says, confirming Raye's alibi. "If you weren't at the park, then who was?" Robert asks. "I don't know, but it wasn't me," Raye yells as she turns herself around to face Robert. "Oh, that reminds me, Serena, you wouldn't believe this," Robert starts. "HEY! WE'RE NOT DONE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF I WAS AT THE PARK!" Raye insists. "Okay, how about this: Amy, can you confirm Raye's alibi?" Robert asks. "Yes. I came with Raye over here. She was here the whole time," Amy answers. "How about you, Serena?" "She's been here all day," Serena says. "Darien?" "Yes," Darien confirms. "But Robert and I saw you at the park, only younger," Lita says, a little confused. "Yeah, six years younger, to be exact," Robert confirms. "Unbelievable," Raye says as the room went quiet. The Scouts thinks hard on the strange occurrences. None of them can think up a logical solution to the problem. Each of the Scouts looks at Amy for an answer, but even she cannot think up of anything. "Hey Lita, you said you and Robert saw something at the park?" Serena asks. "Yeah, we saw a small Roman century," Lita says. "A what?" Mina asks. "A group of soldiers. Have you heard of the Greek phalanx?" Robert explains. "Yeah," Mina says "Well, a century is a division of a legion. The same thing pretty much as the phalanx, only stronger. The one we saw had about 50 or 60 men. Robert and I just thought they were late for the Roman fair," Lita explains. Meanwhile, the same Roman century is on the outskirts of Tokyo. They set up camp for the night. The fire crackles as the meat sizzles. One of the sixty soldiers approaches the commander's tent. He goes inside, only to find the commander sleeping. The soldier starts to leave when the commander stops him. "What is amiss?" the commander asks. "Caesar, this is not Rome. There are a lot of symmetrical structures around. And the troops are getting restless, sir," the soldier reports, "I think we are somewhere else." "THEN WHERE ARE WE?" Caesar roars. "I-I-I-I don't know, sir," the soldier stammers. "Then leave me!" Caesar commands as the soldier trips out of the tent. (JSW: Ah, a little humor here and there won't hurt anyone, will it?) Russell and Raye arrive at the temple, somewhat relieved from the day's maniacal events. Raye walks into her room to take a rest while Russell walks into his room to watch a soccer game on TV. Russell relaxes on his bed and enjoys the game between Japan and Germany. (JSW: Go Japan Woo-hoo!) (Y2V: Tora! Tora! Tora! Go Japan!) Suddenly, an arrow impales the wall above the foot of his bed. Russell gets up and walks to his window to investigate. He looks out his window, only to see another arrow fly at him. He dodges the arrow and grabs it in mid-air. He moves away from the window and takes a good look at the arrow in his hand. "Looks homemade," he comments, noting the wooden shaft, the feathers, and the crudely-cast arrowhead. He walks by Raye's room, "Hey Raye, there're kids in the back yard shooting arrows at us. I'm going to check it out." "Okay, be careful," says Raye as Russell walks away and towards the back door. Back at Robert and Lita's house, Lita cooks dinner while she and Robert talks about the strange situations that had occurred. "I don't know, Lita, but the only thing that I can come up with is that Pluto might have made a mistake," Robert suggests. "What makes you say that?" Lita asks, sprinkling some spices on a chicken breast. "Well, Raye's 'so-called' boyfriend looks like her, almost; dark hair, dark purple eyes," Robert explains, placing the chicken on the skillet. "Huh! How odd," Lita says, "Hey, watch the chicken. I'm going around the corner." "Sure," Robert says, taking over the cooking. 'Yeah! Finally! I get to lead in the cooking. Should I give this up when Lita returns? Ah, better not risk a bruise, except I'm missing a bruise somewhere, but where?" Robert thinks as he flips the chicken. A few minutes later, Lita comes back, but with a different look. She has on her old school uniform that she outgrew years ago, and she looked six years younger. "Wow! That didn't take long! How'd you fit back into your old uniform, Lita?" Robert asks, admiring Lita's beauty. "Who are you?" Lita asks, "and why are you in my kitchen?" "I'm your husband. Now you're starting to sound like Raye," Robert says as he places his hand on Lita's shoulder. "Uh, NO! I don't think so! HIYA!" Lita cries as she grabs hold of Robert's arm and flips him over her shoulder. Robert slowly gets up, only to get punched in the face. Robert lands in front of Lita, knocked out. A few minutes later, Lita comes in her house. She walks to the kitchen, finding someone who looks like her, knocking her husband around. "HEY! YOU LEAVE MY HUSBAND ALONE!" Lita cries. "Huh?" the girl asks, looking at Lita. "HEY, YOU LOOK LIKE ME!" both ladies cries. "But how can that be?! I wore that same uniform back in Junior High," the older Lita cries. "You look like me, only older," the girl answers. "WHO ARE YOU? I'M LITA! YOU CAN'T BE LITA! I'M LITA! YOU WANT TO FIGHT!?" both Litas cry as they both starts staring each other down. Sparks fly between their eyes as Robert starts to come to. "Hey, what's going on?" Robert asks wearily. He gets up and notices two Litas. He looks at the young Lita, then to his Lita, and back again. He backs down, allowing room for the Litas to figure this out. 'Oh man, what am I going to do now," Robert thinks as he looks at his Lita. "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, MISTER!" both Litas commands, "WE'RE GOING TO DISCUSS THIS!" Russell walks into the forest with the arrow he caught still in his hand. He makes it a short distance into the forest when suddenly an arrow flies by him and into a tree next to him. "Halt, who goes there," a voice calls. Russell looks around, then up in the trees to see the guy resembling Robin Hood who he earlier saw at the park. "Any man wishing to cross through this here forest must pay the appropriate tax," he says with a heavy Middle English accent. "Tux? I've got an old one in my room that doesn't fit me anymore if you want it," says Russell. "I didn't say 'Tux', I said 'tax'," says Robin Hood, "You know, what you pay the king." "Excuse me," Russell challenges, "this is my grandfather's forest." "But it looks so much like Sherwood," Robin Hood argues. "Sorry, Locksley," says Russell, "I'm afraid this isn't Sherwood Forest." "You know my real name?" Robin questions. "Of course I do," Russell responds. "Everyone knows about the stories of Robin Hood. He, or should I say you, was one of the greatest characters in British history." "Did you say 'history'?" the confused Robin asks, "But 'tis about a thousand years after the birth of Christ." "Wrong there, Locksley," Russell contradicts, "Try about two thousand years." "So this is Sherwood a thousand years in the future," Robin says, trying to sort it all out. "Nope, wrong again," says Russell, "you're a long way from England, Locksley." "Then we shall make our way back to Sherwood," says Robin Hood, "Come along, merry men. Home is that way!" Robin Hood and his merry men walk through the forest and out of sight. Raye walks outside after Robin Hood and his merry men leave. "Was that the same Robin Hood we saw at the park?" she asks. "Sure was," Russell responds. "At first I though they were just some punk kids. But now..." "You think they're real," Raye finishes off for Russell. "I know. It's like a dream or something," says Russell as they walk back into the temple. "Okay, so you say that you live here, right?" Lita asks her past self. "Yes. I've lived here since..." Young Lita starts. "...My parents died," both Litas finishes. "Do you know Ken, Lita?" Robert asks Young Lita. "OF COURSE I DO! HE'S MY BEST FRIEND! How'd you know about him?" Young Lita demands. "She told me," Robert answers, nodding his head towards his Lita. "Okay, so how did this mess-up started? What were you doing prior to this? Like three hours ago?" Mature Lita asks her past counterpart. "I was in the park, walking alone. Raye and Russell were walking in the park together. They were catching up on things, but I really didn't know, nor do I even care, but that's about it," Young Lita answers. "How about you two?" "We were in the park. We were together for the most part, until something caught my eye. I went to investigate what it was," Mature Lita explains. "I went on ahead. I told Lita that I'd meet her in front of the lake. I saw Raye and I guess this dude named Russell, so I backed down and let those two be together," Robert continues. "I saw Robert at the bench and sat down. Then, Raye came by and I got mad at her because she thought I was you. See, I'm married to him, and I guess somehow she either forgotten or, she doesn't yet know about it," Mature Lita finishes. "Well, I guess I'd better finish off supper," Robert suggests as both Litas push Robert out of the kitchen. "You get rolls," Mature Lita commands, giving her husband a kiss. "We'll finish off dinner," Young Lita adds as she grabs Robert's favorite green apron. 'That's my apron you are using,' Robert thinks as he rolls his eyes and leaves the house for the supermarket. Russell stands in the kitchen, grabbing the ingredients he needs for cooking a near gourmet meat dish. He tries his best to forget his meeting with Robin Hood.. 'They must've just been some weird people dressed in Medieval costumes,' he thinks to himself. Then he remembers Raye's meeting with an adult Lita, the Medieval carriage, and even the World War Two era flag. 'That's right, this is too coincidental. They must be the real McCoy.' He looks in the spice rack to find it empty. "Aagh! No alspice! No organo! No rosemary! No sage! I have no spices period!" He runs to his room and grabs his coat. Raye walks out of her room to see why Russell is in such a hurry. "Got no time now Raye," says Russell, "I'm going to the store to get some spices. See 'ya!" Russell makes it to the supermarket and immediately makes a beeline towards the spice aisle. He browses through the spices, looking for the very spice he needs before grabbing the rest. "You look...familiar," a man's voice says, startling Russell. He turns to see a man, about his size, with brown hair and green eyes, wearing a black T-shirt and green warm-up pants. The man gets a good look at Russell. "Yeah, I definitely know you now." He shakes Russell's hand. "Hi I'm Robert, Lita's husband." Russell looks at him a little odd. 'It is true. But how'd Lita get a husband?' "You must be Russell, Raye's new boyfriend," Robert assumes. Russell's eyes grow to the size of softballs. "What?! I'm her brother. We look too much alike to be boyfriend and girlfriend." "Brother!? Since when did Raye have a brother?!" Robert asks as he releases his hold of Russell's hand. (JSW: You know, after the hand- shake!) "Since fourteen years ago when she was born," Russell answers. "Raye's only twenty years old. And besides, Raye never told us about a brother," Robert comments. "Wait a minute, twenty years old?" Russell says, surprised at Robert's remark. "Question. How old is Lita?" "Twenty, the same as Raye," Robert answers. "Well, that explains Raye seeing an older-looking Lita. She WAS older," says Russell, "If that was the older Lita who Raye saw at the park, then where's the younger Lita, the one I know?" "She's at my house, cooking with MY Lita," Robert answers, "That explains why Raye argued with me and Lita about not being at the park with you. That must've been the younger Raye I saw." Something clicks in Russell's logical mind, "Timelines must be mixing. Yeah, that's it! That explains two Litas, two Rayes, the World War Two flag, Robin Hood and his merry men, medieval wagons..." "Romans," Robert adds. "There's probably an older me running around somewhere," says Russell. "Actually, Raye, the older one, never told me she had an older brother," Robert contradicts. "Now I'm confused," says Russell, "How could there not be two of me running around?" "I don't know, but I gotta go home and tell Lita, well both of them, about this," Robert says as he turns to leave, "nice meeting you Russell." Russell answers. "Yeah, see 'ya!" Russell responds as he turns to grab some spices. Robert pays for the rolls and steps outside to find a herd of people running from... "What ARE they running from?" Robert asks himself. "Aaaaaaaaaaagh! Godzilla!" a man yells as Robert looks in the direction of the source. "THAT'S NO GODZILLA! THAT'S A T-REX!" Robert yells as he too runs for his life. He looks back to see that the T-Rex just had lunch and is working on dessert. Robert takes a turn at the entrance to the park. He hides behind a tree, beads of sweat forming on his head. He breathes heavily as he takes a peek around the tree trunk. 'Okay Robert, get it together. That Russell character may be right on one thing: Time is distorted. But he didn't know about the dinosaurs running around,' Robert thinks as he settles his eyes on the same Roman century that he saw earlier battle a fair-sized Triceratops. 'Now what?' "Ugh! Caesar, we cannot pierce its armor," one of the soldiers says as he stabs the creature. "I don't care! It destroyed our camp! Now it will pay!" Caesar says as he too stabs the creature. "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuh!" The three-horn bellows. It bucks its head, stabbing a poor Roman. "HEY! STOP THAT!" Robert yells, trying to stop the unneeded violence. The Romans stop long enough for the Triceratops to make an escape. "Who do you think you are?" Caesar growls. "Someone trying to stop unneeded violence! Now, why were you attacking that?" Robert yells at Caesar. "How DARE you raise your voice at me, BOY!" Caesar roars at Robert. "KILL HIM!" "CRUD!" Robert says as he grabs his bag of rolls and scatters towards his home. Robert looks behind him to see that the Romans were catching up on him, and fast. 'Come on, how can Serena gather enough speed to get to school on time?' Robert thinks as he rounds up a bend. He sees that the Tyrannosaurus Rex is in front of him, with its tail facing him. 'Whew! It stopped,' Robert thinks as he sneaks under it. When he gets under the large dinosaur's neck, Robert thinks 'how am I going to get out of this mess?' Suddenly, the Roman century rounds the corner. So far, the T-Rex doesn't notice the century...That is until one of the soldiers yells, "Hey! There he is! Let's go!" The dinosaur cranes its neck and faces the century. It charges for the Romans as Robert stays put. When the T-Rex has its back to Robert, he bolts. As he runs he could hear deafening screams. Not once did he turn back, but he could guess what was going on. 'Dang! I can't believe this is happening!' Robert thinks as he turns onto his street. He throws the door to his house open and dashes inside. He slams the door shut and put his back to the door. He slides down onto the floor and starts to catch his breath. 'At least I got the rolls.' After a couple of minutes, Robert gets up and walks to the kitchen. The two Litas look at Robert as they both grabs a plate. Robert has a shocked expression on his face as he begins. "Lita," Robert says. "Yes Robert?" Young Lita asks. "Not you. My Lita. Did you know Raye had a brother?" "Yes," "No," Young Lita and Adult Lita, respectively, respond at the same time. "Really? My Lita, she has a brother named Russell. I met him at the supermarket," Robert says. "Strange," Adult Lita responds. "You know what else? THERE ARE NOW DINOSAURS RUNNING AMUCK! ONE ALMOST ATE ME!!" Robert yells as he tells the story to the Litas. "Omigosh! You're kidding!" Young Lita says as she gathers up the rolls. "Aack! They're ruined!" "Yeah, because I was running for my life!" Robert comments. "Hey Young Lita, do you mind if you'd stay with us?" Mature Lita asks as Robert shows a big grin. 'Hey! Two Litas sleeping in the same bed with me in the middle...' Robert's dirty mind thinks. (JSW: notice the ellipse. He's still thinking of dirty stuff!!!) "Sure, as long as he takes the couch," Young Lita answers as Robert's grin fades away. "Wha!?" Robert asks. "Yeah! At least until we get this settled," Mature Lita says. "Hey! Has anyone tried to ask ME!" says Robert "Okay! Then it's settled! We'll try to solve this mystery tomorrow!" says Mature Lita. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> END OF PART ONE JSW: Well, that's it! Well, for the first part anyway. HOPEFULY, we'll get this thing settled in the next part. Y2V: (chuckling) Godzilla, who'd ever thought. At least we got this story over with.
