The Russell Hino Epic

The Starstruck Romances

These romance pics fit the title of this page, well, a little. I plan on usin' different pics in the future, possibly even my own romantic fanart. That pic of Kyodai-kun and Ami-chan up there is one example.

The Russell Hino Epic isn't all action and comedy, it also has true love and romance. The romantic intensity grows with each and every fanfic. My feature romance, "Fires of Passion" highlighted Russell's (Hino Kyodai) feelings for Amy (Mizuno Ami) as possibly being the princess in his dreams. That, however, wasn't the beginning of romance in the Russell Hino Epic. In fact, the whole epic started out with romance, made prominent in the Prologue to "Brother of Fire". This particular page deals with special summary and commentary on the romance involved in the Russell Hino Epic.

Prince Ramón & Princess Ami

In the Silver Millennium

This particular romance started out the whole romantic genre of the Russell Hino Epic. This romance started in the prologue to "Brother of Fire" at one of Queen Selenity's palace balls. Though they didn't know each other very well, they have immediate interest for each other at almost first sight. After dancing with his sister Princess Rei and Princess Minako, Prince Ramón talks to a couple people, Princess Rei and Prince Endymion, about Ami. Both encourage him to go for her, but it is Ami who pulls herself a little out of character and “meekly” asks Ramón to dance with her. In an aquatic environment, requested by Princess Ami herself, they dance the night away to 3 ocean inspired songs. After whisking her away in the aquatic environment, Prince Ramón does a little stargazing from the palace balcony. It is there that Princess Ami meets him, complementing the stars, and how he is like them. They are a passionate kiss, sealing the night and letting the other know "I'm truly in love with you".

This romance in the Silver Millennium highlights Hino Kyodai’s potential love life in the present. The Prologues to "Brother of Fire" and "Children of Fire" tell the reader that Mizuno Ami and Kyodai are destined to be together. Who'd ever thought fire and water would actually go well together.

Hino Kyodai & Aino Minako

In the present, after Kyodai meets his sister Rei's friends, the ever so guy-crazy Aino Minako begins flirting with him at almost first sight. They start out with Minako flirting with Kyodai, trying to get him to like her. This is a rather obvious effort, as all the girls present know what Minako is trying to do. The occurrence of Kyodai even mentioning Sailor Venus, or even Sailor V only makes Minako flirt with him even more. She loves to strike conversation with those who like Sailor V, even flirt with the male fans. At the mention of the group going to a movie, Minako only flirts with Kyodai even more, trying to get him to take her to the movies. Kyodai is taken in by her charm, and her rather cute looks, and takes decided to take her to the movie. During and after the movie, after an interruption by an attacking youma, Minako's and Kyodai's mutual worry about each other and each other's anger bring them closer together. They share a graceful and revealing kiss, marking the beginning of their romantic journey.

Kyodai and Minako share a rather intense romance with each another. Their activities include movies, mall shopping, and spending time with each other at the park, enjoying each other's company and passionate love. This present day romance highlights Minako's apparent feelings for Kyodai from back in the Silver Millennium. This romance is all too good to be true, for Minako breaks up with Kyodai two weeks after their first kiss at the movies. This is typical of her character, the fact that she likes a lot of guys and finds it difficult to choose one who will actually take her as a date. Kyodai was good to her, passionate, and even a gentleman, often opening the car door for her, very untypical of his difficulty with sharing feelings. How could you just dump someone who was so good to you, Minako? In your case, guys don't get any better than him.

Hino Kyodai & Kino Makoto

Kyodai's admiration of women with great physical strength, and his admiration of Sailor Jupiter for that reason, drew Makoto to him. This romance takes again takes a rather quick approach to it. Makoto's romantic feelings for Kyodai actually started before he and Minako dated. Makoto and Minako, as usual between them, tended to have a little friendly rivalry over him, and fought over him on a couple occasions. Come the time after Minako and Kyodai broke up, the opportunity came for Makoto to finally nab the man with whom she has feelings for.

This opportunity came when Kyodai, Rei, and company visited Makoto for dinner. Then, after hearing of Kyodai often cooking at the temple, Makoto does the unthinkable and asks Kyodai to help her cook. This seems to be just one of Makoto's ways of getting closer to him before asking him out, though she is sincere and honorable. Together, they make dinner. After seeing Kyodai's cooking skills in action, she finds desire to get to know him better. So Kyodai tells her of his high school days. Makoto especially finds his athletic achievements intriguing. After sharing a brief story about Kyodai's obsidian jewel ring, Makoto finds the perfect, well almost perfect moment to ask him out. She, like Minako, takes a direct approach, a very direct approach. Makoto shares a quick ring of complements, mostly metaphor. It's that ring of complements, along with his admiration for girls with great strength, that draws Kyodai into a flaming kiss with her.

This seems to be a downside for Kyodai; he has a tough time sharing feelings with anybody, but he seems to give in to strong advances rather easily. This, and a few other factors, including Makoto not being the princess of his dreams, led him to break up with her. Makoto's violent nature got the best of her in her impulsive reaction to his decision, giving Kyodai something to think about for a week or two.

Hino Kyodai & Mizuno Ami

This is perhaps the ultimate romance as the two brainiacs, destined to be together in the Silver Millennium, take a more classic approach to the beginning of their romance. This began to come about in "Wildfire" and throughout "Children of Fire". It was highlighted by Kyodai's story in "Fires of Passion", but it really took off in "Blue Flame".

It starts out with Kyodai having feelings for Ami, and vice versa. While observing at Juuban Jr. High, Kyodai and Ami catch a few glimpses of each other, rather than concentrating on the subject. Later, at a park, Ami watches as Kyodai studies, noticing how handsome he looks when he's really concentrating on a subject. It is rather unusual for Ami to study a guy rather than Math and Science. But in this case, Ami finds it difficult to ignore a handsome guy who shares similar interests, and similar intelligence. In public, especially with Rei, Ami is reluctant to show her feelings for the man and tends to bottle these emotions inside her, knowing it's rather unusual and even a bit embarassing for her.

Kyodai himself also admires Ami's beauty, both in a snowy environment and when she studies. Though he wonders how such a delicate face like Ami's can stand such harsh weather, he sees even greater beauty in her in the serene snow-covered environment. But Kyodai's feelings for Ami goes back before visiting Juuban Jr. High. His feelings for her begin to show back when he was under Queen Beryl’s control during a mission to steal a fire crystal from the Chinese Embassy, where Ami was attending a ball. Even Queen Beryl’s spell couldn’t tame Kyodai’s feelings for Ami as he got Ami out of harm’s way before he struck.
