Title: Mind Over Fire - Chapter 4 Author: Viper Inferno E-mail: viperdvman@hotmail.com Rated: PG-13 Howdy Sailor Moon Fans. Welcome back to the world of Y2V. I can already tell y'all this is the longest fanfic I've ever written. The last chapter had just about everything, from compassionate scenes, to slices-of-life, and especially a darker scene with the battle. It sure showed y'all some of what Deanna is like. Sure, she's totally without a guilty conscience in battle, but she's human just like the rest of us and has a good side. Still, much mystery surrounds her, which will be revealed as this fanfic and future fics progress. With the Scouts doing much better against her in battle, we'll have to see what the final chapter brings. So, let's get on with it. Here's the Y2V... ...Disclaimer: Sailor Moon, most of the characters, and the Dodge Viper ain't mine. They belong to their respective people and companies. As always, Russell Hino, Hino Kyodai, Tuxedo Inferno, and all his other identities, Titanius, and Deanna Kokorono are MINE (in a deep, dark, growling voice). So, y'all please don't sue me, I'm just a lonely little student who's barely got anything, just payin' his dues. Well, hope y'all enjoyed this fanfic and e-mail me with comments, a'ight? Visit my website at: http://viperdvman.tripod.com/ All my fanfics are found there, as well as a whole site with everythang you could find in a Sailor Moon website, from profiles, to image galleries, to sounds, to music, and especially a whole section on the Russell Hino Epic. Y'all go there, and enjoy this fic, a'ight? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mind Over Fire By Viper Inferno Chapter 4 Russell looks under the hood of his rather eye-catching beast, his Dodge Viper, gazing at the beauty of its 10-cylinder engine. Not only did he gaze at the engine, but he cleaned it too. From the times he had driven it in the short amount of time that he had it, the engine sure got dirty pretty quick. With a car as sleek and stylish as a Viper, Russell makes sure he takes care of it, keeping it clean inside and out. Gabianni too is under the hood of his sedan, performing his usual engine maintenance, and keeping his pride and joy in the best working order. Cars was always an interest Russell and Gabianni shared. Sure, Gabianni likes fast cars such as Russell's Viper, but Gabianni is more of a European car fan. Porches, Ferrari's, and other fast European cars were Gabianni's favorites. They may be his dream cars, but his sedan works just fine for him. Though it isn't as impressive as some of the sportier cars Japan has to offer, it has plenty of power under the hood for him to brag about, plus it carries pretty much most of the Hino family. Sure Russell had his Viper, but American cars weren't the only cars he was fascinated with. Great Britain had some really fast supercars of their own, which Russell rarely ever asked Mina about even though she did live in England. After he had finished cleaning the engine in his Viper, making it gleam like new, he closed the hood and walked over to Gabianni's sedan. Gabianni too was finishing up his little bit of engine work. "How's it coming along?" Russell asks. "Just gotta finish adjusting the timing, and everything's good to go," Gabianni replies. "Wanna go for a spin when you're done?" Russell asks, wanting to spend a little more quality time with Gabianni. "Sure," Gabianni replies as he slams the hood of his sedan shut, "Yours or mine?" "Um, yours," Russell replies, "I just cleaned the engine on my car, don't wanna dirty it again 'ya know." "No problem, hop in," Gabianni says as he and Russell hop in, with the engine already running from when Gabianni was performing a couple maintenance tasks that required it. With a freshly tuned engine, Gabianni decides to show off the power of his sedan as he slams his foot on the accelerator, causing the tires to screech as the sedan takes off into the Tokyo daylight. Amy's house... While Russell and Gabianni were working on cars, Raye had decided earlier to go visit Amy. Once again, Amy was home alone since her mother was in for another late shift, though it had made Amy happier when her mother told her she was coming home tonight and wouldn't be at work for another day. This would give Amy some good time to spend with her mother, away from the books. Family was one thing Amy doesn't understand much of, especially since her father had left when she was young. Raye too shared this feeling. Hers and Russell's father may have left when they were young, but they had Grandpa, Yuuichiro, Romano, and Gabianni as a wonderful family. She and Amy both understood each other in the fact that they both don't know their fathers very well. For now, Raye makes herself quite at home as Amy's guest. After sharing their girl talk with each other, talking about their families, school, and even occasional talk about guys, Raye's concern for her bother remains constant on her mind. "Hey Amy, have you noticed anything wrong with Russell since Deanna moved to his school?" she asks. "You mean have I noticed his slight changes in mood and behavior? A little," she answers, "He was quite disturbed when I had asked him to dinner as a suggestion for a date." "Is that all you noticed?" Raye asks. "That's about it," she explains, "When he came back from America after getting his new car, he was in a much better mood. On our date, he didn't seem very bothered. He did seem a little shy about showing his love for me." Amy blushed slightly at that last statement. "But he's always like that," says Raye. "But I didn't notice much. It's like he's good at hiding his emotions," Amy explains, "Kind of like me." "He rarely shares his feelings with anyone," says Raye, "But it looks like Deanna isn't an easy person for him to hide his feelings from. But I noticed quite a bit at home after Deanna moved to his school. He was definitely upset about something. He had forgotten about asking you on a date, and he was definitely hiding something after getting the plane tickets to America, I sensed he was in danger. And I also saw that he was a little uneasy, unsafe, and insecure. He can't hide a whole lot from me either, I've lived with him too long." Amy takes Raye's hand as she was talking about what she saw in Russell, "Sounds like you want to do something to help." "Yeah, I mean I love my brother and all, but I just want him to be his old happy self again," says Raye, "But at least he knows he's not alone anymore. I'm here for him, we're all here for him. Of course I want to do something about it, I'm a Sailor Scout." "Sounds like you want to challenge Deanna yourself," Amy analyzes. "I'd love to take her myself, but she'd probably do the same to me that she did to Russell and the others," Raye replies, "Russell and I couldn't take her. So I alone couldn't take her." "I don't know. Serena took to her quite well alone, and Lita gave her quite a beating, so I'm sure each of us could take her one-on-one," says Amy, "You're not the only one who wants to help him. Lita called me the after the meeting yesterday. She's still quite angry with Deanna for not only hurting Russell, but also embarrassing her in battle. I'm sure all of us want to help Russell defeat Deanna." "But how to we beat her is the question," says Raye, "She's such a tough opponent, the toughest we've faced thus far." "Maybe because we know so little of her. We've only faced her twice in battle," Amy points out. "Three for me," Raye adds. "So, we must learn from our last battles with her and plan out our next confrontation with her," Amy explains. "What do you propose?" Raye asks. "I say we do a little studying," Amy replies with a little smile before letting out a giggle. "Studying?" Raye says, sweatdrop hanging from her head. "You know the old saying, 'Know your enemy'," says Amy, "She knows us quite well. We just have to learn from our last battles and watch how she fights in this next battle." "So we fight her purely to watch her moves," says Raye, "How do we pull that off since she is capable of sensing our ulterior motives. "Not all the time, like Russell said," Amy disclaims, "But we can split up. Some of us will fight her, while some of us watch her moves. I doubt she'll be worried about our ulterior motives when we're fighting her like we mean it." "I know I'll mean it when I fight her, and so will Lita," says Raye. "I'm sure we all will, me included," Amy adds, "I definitely know Russell wants to defeat her too. This battle should help him and help us overcome her." "So, should we tell them in a meeting of what you've planned?" Raye asks. "I think we all are going to work this plan out," Amy clarifies. Raye smiles as she takes Amy's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze, "Thank you, Amy. I know I can count on your brains to get us out of trouble." "We'll defeat her and help your brother feel much better about himself, as Sailor Scouts," says Amy as she returns the squeeze. "Let's head over to Lita's, we're holding the meeting ahead of schedule," Raye says as the girls get up and walk towards the door. After slipping their shoes on, they walk out the door and head in the direction of Lita's apartment. Cherry Hill Temple... Gabianni and Russell drive to the temple and park behind Russell's Viper after a nice drive for the two car lovers. Both men hop out of the car and begin walking up the temple steps. Russell makes it to the top, but only to hear a female voice calling him from behind. He looks behind to see none other than Mina running up the steps like the true athlete that she's more than capable of being. Russell wonders why Mina would be coming to the temple to visit, especially since Raye's not home. For all he knew, she was there to hit on the guys there. "Hi Mina," he replied. "Hey Russell, don't you remember our meeting?" Mina asks, shooting that last thought down completely. "Oh my god, I forgot," Russell replies, playing the little improvisation since Gabianni's there, "Raye's gonna be mad about this. She jumps poor Serena for the same thing." 'Why the hell is one being scheduled so early?' Russell wondered why a scout meeting was being held so early, and why Mina was sent to tell him rather than being called about it. "What meeting?" Gabianni asks. "Oh... um," Russell thinks for a split second, making sure not to reveal that he works with the legendary Sailor Scouts, "Raye needs me and Mina to help her out with her school performance." 'Perfect,' Russell thought to himself, using Raye's upcoming vocal performance as an excuse. "You better get there," Gabianni says in response, "You know how bitchy your sister can be sometimes." "Don't I ever know that," Russell replies as he turns to head down the temple steps, "C'mon Mina, we'll drive there." "Oh cool, I get to ride in the Viper?" Mina says excitingly. "Sure, no better way to get there," Russell replies. They make it to Russell's Viper and hop in. Mina immediately plays with his CD player before he gently slaps her hand, "No, don't you touch my CD player." "Sorry Russell, I just like this car," Mina replied, still a little anxious about being in Russell's powerful new car. "You better buckle up," Russell says, "if you wanna see how fast I can get us there while avoiding the police." Mina quickly buckles up right as Russell starts the engine, bringing the 450 horses under the hood to life. In almost an instant, Russell shifts in and takes off, tires smoking, towards Lita's house, which is more than enough to impress Mina about the car. Lita's apartment... Raye, Amy, Lita, Serena, Luna, and Artemis sit in the living room on the two couches on each side of the coffee table. They sit in the executive board meeting environment of the living room, awaiting Mina to return with Russell so they could begin their meeting. Raye looks at her wristwatch, tapping her foot on the floor with impatience, as the other girls remain silent. Serena is twirling her ponytail around her fingers, while Lita examines her fingernails, and Amy reads a physics paperback. Suddenly, the sound of a rather powerful car immediately grabs Raye's attention. "That sounds like Russell's car," she says as she gets up and walks over to the door. Since the doors lead to an indoor hallway, it'll be a little bit before they make it to the apartment. So Raye decides to sit back down and be patient since that sounded like Russell's car that had pulled up. All is quiet in the Kino residence, without even Serena's blabbering to break it. Seems that all gets quiet when Mina's not around. She can be so full of spunk sometimes, one who can cheer the girls up anytime. The silence is broken when there is a knock at the door. "About time," Raye says as she walks to the door to open it, "He's just as bad as Serena, if not worse." "Hey, I resent that," says Serena as Raye opens the door, letting Mina and Russell inside. "Come in, meeting starts now," says Raye as Mina and Russell take their seats on the sofa, Mina next to Lita and Russell next to Amy. Raye takes her seat on the chair at the end of the table. "So, what should we discuss in this meeting?" Artemis asks, "You brought all of us here a week ahead of schedule." "I know all too well what we're here to discuss," Lita replies, "Who else would we discuss at a time like this." "Didn't we already discuss our last battle with her yesterday?" Mina asks. "Yes, but we only analyzed the battle and what we learned from it," Amy answers, "Raye and I are holding this meeting way ahead of schedule to discuss the battle strategy we talked about yesterday for our next battle with Deanna." "So, did we come up with any?" Serena asks. "You girls actually came up with your own strategy?" Luna asks, "I'm very proud of how you are pulling together as a team. "Actually, I don't know any," says Lita, "How 'bout you Mina?" "Anything I came up with, I figured she could easily overcome them," Mina replies. "I was too busy with my own life at home, doing homework, and shopping to worry about Deanna," Serena adds. "Me too," Mina agrees. Luna only hung her head in disappointment, with a sweatdrop hanging from her head, "You're all hopeless." "Hey, I like my life," Serena argues back, "I'm not going to let Deanna ruin my days of fun and homework." "Raye and I came up with some battle strategy," Amy buts in. "And what have you come up with?" Artemis asks. "Well, remember what Raye did in our last battle?" Amy explains, "Watching the battle from a tree." "Oh, I see what you mean now," says Raye, "I observed the battle from outside." "Exactly," Amy replies. "Hold on," Lita interrupts, "How are we going to watch the battle from outside if we're in it?" "Because not all of us are going to fight her," Raye replies. "So some of us are going to watch her while the others fight and see how she moves," says Lita. "Sounds like a great idea," Luna says, "You should get to know your enemy." "Well, she knows us pretty well," says Serena, "It's only fair to know her." "I'm sure some of you know what to look for," says Russell, "Some you learned from me, and some you learned first hand. I would use what we learned and take it to her." "But how are we going pull it off?" Mina asks, "Can't she read minds? Wouldn't she find out we're watching her moves?" "She's not always a mind reader," Russell reminds them. "Plus we figured she would be kept busy if we fought like we meant it," Raye adds, "I doubt she'll be worried about what's on our minds. She'll be more worried about fighting us than probing us." "I agree," says Serena, "I could've sworn that a number of times, she never saw some of my attacks coming." "Same as when Raye and I fought her," Russell adds, "She seems to be more worried about the fight than what's on our minds." "Then I say we split up into two groups," says Raye, "3 of us will fight her, while 3 of us watch her." "I should watch too," says Luna, "I need to see Deanna for myself, especially in battle." "Put me in for fighting her," Lita says as she stands up rather aggressively, "She's got a lot to answer for." "Hold on there, Lita. I don't think you should go out there yet," says Raye, trying to calm her urge down. "And why not?" Lita argues. "The purpose of this battle is to watch her moves, not to defeat her," Amy replies. "But you said 'fight like we mean it', and I mean it," Lita argues again. Mina holds Lita by the shoulders, "We'll do that after he watch her, okay?" Lita sits back down and continues to listen to the meeting. "Russell, I think you should be the one to fight her since you know her better than the rest of us, and I should as well since Russell and I fight well together," Raye immediately assigns. "Whoa, who died and made you leader," Serena argues, "You can't just waltz in and give us orders like you're some general just because you happen to have an idea." "Will you shut up already, Serena," Raye barks, "'Cause you're fighting with us since you are the leader." "And what about me?" Lita asks rather aggressively. "I think you should watch her," Amy replies, "You fight well against her, but I think you too could watch and see how she moves. Remember, we're a team. We all have some kind of grudge against Deanna, but we don't want that to destroy our team cohesiveness. We need to take her together." "Yeah, I guess you're right," Lita says as she lies back in the couch and calms herself. "I take it Amy and I are also watching Deanna," Mina asks. "I think we have a good plan here," says Luna, "And I'll be there to help if you need any." "So when do we begin?" Serena asks. Raye only looks at Amy's eyes, remembering why they came up with the strategy in the first place. Sure, it all started with Russell and he's Deanna's biggest rival, but the Scouts are behind him 100%. Amy nods in response as Raye turns back to the others, "Now." "Hope no one's doing anything," says Artemis. "Not really," they all reply in unison, removing all doubt from Artemis' mind. "We should split up since she'll suspect we're up to something," Russell suggests, "And make it a casual walk and not look like we're out looking for her." "Good idea, let's go Scouts," says Serena as they all get up and head out the door, ready to take Deanna on. After walking outside, Raye turns to Amy, "Thank you, Ames. Thank you for everything." "It's the least I can do. Now it's up to us all to take it to her," Amy replies. Raye smiles as she turns back and walks toward the elevator. Tokyo Tower... Raye walks about amongst the crowd of tourists, wondering if Deanna is amongst them. Since Russell told her about Deanna transferring from Osaka recently, Deanna would probably want to get to know Tokyo a little better. But Deanna doesn't seem to be the type who would visit landmarks for leisure. With a girl who concentrates on mostly academics, tourism would just be out of the question. Yet, Raye figures that searching even in the most unsuspecting places might be a good idea. Deanna could be anywhere. Then again, Deanna might just as easily be home that day and not even be out in town. Little did she know that Deanna is there, sitting at a bench not far from her. She looks up from a book and easily picks Raye out in the crowd. 'Now what is she doing?' Deanna asks herself, 'She looks like she's looking for something.' Deanna immediately teleports, reappearing above the entrance, yet hidden from view. She finds Raye again and sees her walking towards the entrance. The walking casual Russell had told her to do earlier sure wasn't showing much. 'She's definitely looking for something, or someone,' Deanna thinks to herself as Raye walks inside. Deanna teleports again and reappears in the ladies room inside the tower. Deanna walks out to find a woman rushing to get in. "Where'd you come from?" she asks, "I didn't see legs under there." "Don't worry about it," Deanna replies, "It's all yours." Deanna walks out of the ladies room and into the vast area under the Tokyo Tower. She then begins looking for Raye, knowing she's among the crowd somewhere. It doesn't take long before she appears in the crowd. 'There you are,' Deanna thinks to herself, 'I know you're up to something.' With her target in sight, Deanna begins walking through the crowd, following Raye. 'She's looking for someone,' Deanna thinks to herself, sensing Raye's reason for being at the tower. Deanna continues to watch as Raye walks into the elevator. With Raye somewhere where she can easily be followed, Deanna teleports again and onto a part of the tower's structure where she can watch the elevator go up the tower. As the elevator gets higher, Deanna teleports to another part of the structure near the observation deck and continues watching the elevator, waiting to see where it stops. After moments of watching the almost endless ascent of the elevator car, pay dirt hits as she sees it stop on the lowest level of the observation deck. "Now let's see what you're up to," Deanna says to herself as she teleports onto that floor. Raye walks out of the elevator along with the rest of the tourists, trying her best to be as casual as possible. For all she knew, Deanna might've already seen her and was following her, or has been following her for quite some time. With that thought constantly on her mind, she walks toward the window, where she can get a great view of the city below. Right as she makes it to the window, a familiar sense comes to her. She knows now she's found her target, "Show yourself, Deanna." "You and your brother are alike," Deanna says from behind her. Raye turns around to see her adversary, wearing a dark purple blouse, dark gray slacks, and black oxfords. "I know you're looking for someone," she says, walking towards her, "And I believe the person you're looking for is me." 'She knows,' Raye thinks to herself, 'She must've followed me.' "Now why would I come to the Tokyo Tower to look for you?" she replies, "You hardly seem like a person who tours major landmarks." "Don't lie to me, I know you're looking for me," says Deanna, "You must want a fight from me." 'Damn, she's good,' Raye thinks to herself. "In our last battle, you were the only one whom I didn't get the chance to challenge. You ended up running as I fought the Moonlight Knight," says Deanna, "Now is the perfect chance to test your strength." Her eyes glow bright blue as the area around Raye fades to a bright blue. She then reappears outside the tower, in an area where surprisingly few people are around. It's as if the crowd of people had all gone inside. This gives Raye the opportunity to call the others and hold Deanna off. With that, she pulls her communicator out. "Scouts, she's at the Tokyo Tower," she quickly says before replacing the communicator and pulling her transformation pen out. "So, you planned this battle against me," Deanna deduces, "I'll only humiliate you like I did all those other times we've fought. I only hope your brother can be out here to watch this." "Oh believe me, he will be," Raye says in a deep voice before she raises her pen, "Mars Power!" With too few people around to care about what's going in, Sailor Mars had no trouble transforming out where many people could see. "For the pain and heartache you've caused my brother, on behalf of the planet Mars, your ass is toast," Sailor Mars says as she prepares for battle. "Then lets see how well you fight," Deanna says as she teleports into thin air. Sailor Mars only looks around, puzzled at why Deanna just teleported away. When she turns to the tower, she sees a bright blue glimmer emanating from it. Then suddenly a beam of bright blue energy flies toward her. She quickly back-flips out of the way, only to see another beam flying at her. She begins doing flips and handsprings, dodging the constant volley of psychic beams missing her by mere inches. After her little display of gymnastics, Sailor Mars bounces off a bench, off a pole, and flies on top of a gift shack. She then points her fingers at the origin of the psychic beams. "Mars Fire Ignite!" With that, she sends a ball of fire flying toward where Deanna was standing. Right as the ball of fire hits its mark, Deanna reappears back on the ground not far from her. "You're indeed nimble, like your friend Sailor Jupiter," Deanna praises, "Well, where are the others?" "They'll be along," Sailor Mars replies as she pulls out an anti-evil scroll and jumps off the shack towards Deanna, figuring she'd teleport out of the way. This trick proves to work as Deanna teleports right before Sailor Mars lands a good kick on her. She studies well. She makes a perfect 10-point landing and begins looking around for where Deanna reappeared. Again, Deanna is nowhere to be found. "Where the hell are you, you coward?" Sailor Mars calls out, "Running away from me, are you? Why don't you just come out here and fight me, huh?" '"You seem quite determined to take me on, Raye Hino,"' Deanna's voice echoes in her mind, '"I'm not far."' "Then stop being a coward and get down here," Sailor Mars says in a deep tone. '"I don't feel cowardice,"' Deanna's voice echoes as she reappears right in front of Sailor Mars. With her eyes glowing bright blue, she immediately waves her arm, sending Sailor Mars flying at high speed into the tower's structure. Then suddenly, a beam of fire strikes Deanna from nowhere, sending her into the gift shack. She gets up moments later, brushing the soot from her blouse, and looks toward the origin of the beam of fire, knowing that it's none other than her very archnemesis, Tuxedo Inferno. "You strike the first blow. How unusual for meetings between us," she says. Tuxedo Inferno stands on top of a nearby light pole, with his cape blowing in the wind. Without so much as a word, Tuxedo Inferno jumps down next to his sister and prepares for battle. "So, the siblings wish to take me on a second time before their friends show up," says Deanna as her eyes glow bright blue, ready to strike. "Deanna, they're not alone," a familiar voice says in distance. Deanna's eyes return to normal as she turns to where the voice came from, at the base of the Tokyo Tower, to find none other than the legend herself. "Indeed they're not," Deanna replies, "So her friends did come along after all." "We will defeat you, Deanna, you can count on that," says Sailor Moon, "In the name of the Moon, we will punish you." "This was supposed to be a battle between me and Sailor Mars, since she seemed to be looking for me," says Deanna, "But since you're here, I'll accept your challenge." Deanna teleports away and reappears on the street in front of the tower, ready to take the 3 warriors on. Meanwhile, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Venus make it to the Tokyo Tower and take their positions in the structure, halfway between the ground and the observation deck. Luna accompanies them and watches on as the 3 gladiators below stand ready to fight Deanna. "So that's Deanna," says Luna, "She doesn't look like she's from the Negaverse or is one of Ann and Alan's leftover cardians." "That's because she's not," Sailor Jupiter replies in a deep tone, watching carefully as all 3 warriors take it to Deanna. "Split up," Tuxedo Inferno barks as the 3 warriors separate, making sure Deanna doesn't get all of them at once. Sailor Mars takes to her first, striking her battle pose, "Deanna, you're ass is mine." She then pulls out another anti-evil scroll and tosses it in the air. "Mars Firebird, Strike!" She ignites the scroll and sends a fiery bird flying straight at Deanna. With no idea where her other two opponents are, she quickly thinks of a counter and uses telekinesis. With her eyes glowing bright blue, she extends her arm out and stops the diving bird a mere inches from her. "Fool, you tried that the first time you fought me and it didn't work," she says, "What makes you think now will be any different?" "Because, I've gotten to know you since our first battle," Sailor Mars replies. Then, something catches Deanna's attention from the corner of her eyes. She looks to the side, only to take a blow from a ball of fire, knocking her off her feet and onto the ground. "And so have the rest of us, especially my brother," Sailor Mars adds. Sailor Mars looks over, seeing Tuxedo Inferno tipping his hat at her as he jumps away, avoiding a possible retaliation from Deanna. Deanna gets up and looks for Tuxedo Inferno, but finds no one. She finds Sailor Mars again, standing ready to fight her. Then, the sense of someone charging her hits her mind. She swiftly turns around and throws her palm out, saving herself from a flying kick from Sailor Moon. She stops Sailor Moon in mid-air, "I won't let another attack take me by surprise." She waves her arm back, sending Sailor Moon flying toward Sailor Mars. Sailor Mars, however, reacts quickly and ducks as Sailor Moon flies right by her. With Deanna's back turned, she pulls out a handful of scrolls and jumps high in the air. "With the power of the Shinto spirit, I'll pair up against your psychic powers," says Sailor Mars as waves her arm, unleashing a volley of scrolls at Deanna. Deanna turns around to counter, but a little too late as some of the scrolls strike her, knocking her to the ground and immobilizing her. "Think of it as another way that two minds do battle," Sailor Mars says as she does a little victory dance. With Deanna temporarily stunned, Sailor Moon jumps high in the air and dives towards Deanna, "Sailor Kick!" Sailor Moon gives Deanna a good kick, sending her flying and landing her right on top of a nearby photo shack. On the tower, Sailor Mercury watches on, with her visor donned and tapping away at her minicomputer. "They seem to be doing well against her," says Luna, watching the battle along with the other Scouts. "Deanna seems to be doing so little," Sailor Venus observes. "It's all too good to be true," Sailor Jupiter agrees, "It's like she's taking it easy on them." "You mean she's much better than this?" says Luna. "Luna, she's utterly ruthless when she fights," Sailor Jupiter explains, "I find it too good to be true that they're doing so good against her when she's barely doing anything. How else could Sailor Mars have taken her with that scroll attack?" "Luck, I guess," Luna replies. Back on the ground, Deanna struggles to get up from a good Sailor Kick. Unfortunately for her, Tuxedo Inferno is standing right there. Deanna quickly gets up and teleports away, anticipating he was going for a close attack. She reappears behind him and thrusts her palm at him. With her telekinetic powers, she sends Tuxedo Inferno sailing off the photo shack and into a light pole. She quickly turns around to find Sailor Mars charging at her. Her eyes glow bright blue as she freezes Sailor Mars dead in her tracks. She extends her arm and slowly raises it, lifting Sailor Mars with telekinesis. She looks to her right to see a tiara flying at her. "Same tricks every time," Deanna says as she swiftly moves Sailor Mars' body between her and the tiara. "Oh no," Sailor Mars says as she throws her arms in front of her. The tiara strikes her, sending her soaring into a nearby tree and falling onto a bench. Deanna stares down at Sailor Moon as she stands in shock that Deanna would use her friend as a human shield. "Well, are you going to stand there, not believing what just happened, or are you going to be the legend and fight?" Deanna taunts. Sailor Moon only lowers her eyebrows as she pulls her scepter out, ready to take Deanna and get a real fight out of her. She stands, staring down at Deanna, waiting for her to make a move. But it's useless as Deanna only stands there on the photo shack with her hair blowing in the wind, without so much as a crack of a smile. The standoff drags on, which gives Sailor Mars and Tuxedo Inferno plenty of time to recover from their attacks. 'Perfect,' Sailor Moon thinks to herself. "What are you doing?" Deanna asks, "Aren't you going to fight?" "After you," Sailor Moon replies. "Very well then," Deanna replies as holds her arms out to her sides, with her eyes glowing bright blue. Sailor Moon watches as Tuxedo Inferno and Sailor Mars take their positions. "NOW!" she barks out. She then immediately puts her scepter up, knowing she won't need it yet, and removes her tiara, "Moon Tiara, Magic!" "Mars Firebird, Strike!" "Inferno Fire, Beam!" All three unleash their attacks at once, hoping to get something out of it. Deanna only looks at Sailor Moon, without so much as a flinch. "So that was your plan," she says in her deeper tone as she throws her arms to her sides, stopping all 3 attacks inches from her. She waves her right arm at Sailor Moon, sending Tuxedo Inferno's fire beam at her, then waves her left arm at Sailor Mars, sending Sailor Moon's tiara at her, then throws her right arm at Tuxedo Inferno, sending his sister's fiery bird at him. All 3 stand in awe, as Deanna seems to have adapted quickly and is turning all 3 of their attacks at them. Each of their attacks hits their mark as all 3 warriors go on a ride throughout the tower grounds. This comes as a shock to the 3 scouts standing watch at the tower. "She adapts quickly," Sailor Mercury notes, "She's really good at turning our attacks against us." "I can see why you all had a tough time with her in the first place," says Luna, "I never knew any human could have that kind of power." "She's a psychic, she can do a lot with her mind alone," says Sailor Venus. "Damn, I can't take this anymore," Sailor Jupiter says as she steps up, ready to jump down from the tower and take Deanna herself, "That bitch is gonna pay." "Sailor Jupiter, no," Sailor Venus says as she and Sailor Mercury grab a hold of her, trying their best to keep her from lashing out at Deanna. "What are you doing, let me go," Sailor Jupiter grunts, trying to free herself. "Please stop," says Sailor Mercury, trying to convince her friend to calm down. "But she's gonna kill them if we don't go down there and help her," Sailor Jupiter argues. "Sailor Jupiter? Lita? Please listen," Sailor Venus pleads, "Please calm down and listen to me." "Why when Deanna's making mincemeat out of them?" Sailor Jupiter says rather harshly. "Because, it's not time for us to take her yet," Sailor Venus replies. "What do you mean 'not time'?" Sailor Jupiter argues. "The purpose of this battle is to study Deanna's moves. Amy's getting the data we need to beat Deanna," Sailor Venus explains, "Tell me, have you been studying her moves?" "A little, but you don't know what she's put me through," Sailor Jupiter replies. "Believe me, we all do," says Sailor Venus, "You're not alone. We're all here, and we all want to defeat Deanna as much as you do. But Russell probably wants a victory more than any of us do. I can see why Raye wanted this little study battle now, she knows how much Russell wants a victory." Sailor Jupiter relaxes a little more, "I guess you're right." Sailor Mercury lets go and turns back to Deanna to continue scanning her, while Sailor Venus takes her friend's hands into hers. "I assure you, you'll get your chance to prove yourself against her," she says, "but for now, let's see how she fights so we can defeat her." "I might be of some help as soon as we learn more about Deanna," says Luna as Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus turn back to the battle and continue watching on. Back on the ground, Sailor Moon is the first to recover from their attacks being turned against them. "That didn't work too well," she says as she makes it to her feet. She gets up to see Deanna standing right in front of her, with her eyes glowing bright blue. Suddenly, Sailor Moon's body lifts off the ground and levitates. "You thought that all three of you attacking me at the same time would be any different" says Deanna as she continues holding Sailor Moon in the air with telekinesis, "You know I can counter your attacks." Sailor Moon soon finds that she's floating rather close to Deanna, in perfect striking distance. She thinks quickly of how to get out of this situation, "Sailor Kick!" She swings her leg around, connecting with Deanna's face and knocking her flat on the ground, while Sailor Moon falls to the ground. "Big mistake, Deanna," she says, "You know you shouldn't hold your opponent that close to you, especially if it's me you're fighting." Meanwhile, Tuxedo Inferno finds a perfect time to strike, right when Deanna is concentrating on Sailor Moon. After Deanna recovers from her attack, Tuxedo Inferno does a few kung fu moves, "Inferno Fire, Dance!" He streaks toward Deanna at light speed and dances around her, setting everything around her ablaze and giving Deanna her frequent flyer miles. Sailor Mars watches as her brother pummels Deanna with a well- choreographed fire dance. She charges over to where Deanna landed. As Deanna begins to recover, Sailor Mars finds a perfect opportunity to attack, stops, and points her fingers at Deanna, "Mars Fire, Ignite!" Sailor Mars sends a ball of fire flying at Deanna. Deanna suddenly turns her head at the ball of fire, with her eyes glowing bright blue. She stops the flame dead in its path. Sailor Mars sees that Deanna's stopped her attack and jumps to another location. She tries again as she points her fingers at Deanna, "Mars Fire, Ignite!" She sends another ball of fire at Deanna and jumps again, figuring Deanna will counter it too. She lands in another location and points her fingers again, "Mars Fire, Ignite!" She sends another ball of fire hurling at Deanna. However, this one hits its mark, sending Deanna flying onto an empty bench. Deanna recovers moments later, only to see a beam of light flying at her. "Psychic Aura," she says in her usual tone, and just in time as her psychic powers shield her from Sailor Moon's attack. Just as she drops her psychic shield, a beam of fire strikes her from the side and pushes her quite a distance, obviously Tuxedo Inferno's work. Sailor Moon then removes her tiara and spins it around, winding up for the throw, "Moon Tiara, Magic!" "Mars Fire, Ignite!" Sailor Mars yells, sending a ball of fire at Sailor Moon's tiara, intensifying it with the power of fire. Deanna recovers and teleports out of the way. She reappears right in front of Sailor Moon and grabs a hold of her with telekinesis. Immediately, she throws Sailor Moon into the gift shack, putting a good size hole in it. "Mars Firebird, Strike!" Right as Deanna throws Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars sends a flaming bird at Deanna, striking her and sending her right near where Tuxedo Inferno's standing. Tuxedo Inferno finds the perfect opportunity to strike a hard blow. He ignites his hands in flames and walks toward the struggling Deanna. Right as he gets close to her, he feels an outside force grab a hold of him. '"You didn't think I figured your moves out, did you?"' Deanna's voice echoes in his mind, '"Strike me while I'm down and getting up."' Deanna gets up rather easily and sends Tuxedo Inferno flying into Sailor Moon. Back on the tower, Sailor Mercury definitely sees a pattern. "She adapted to that strategy rather well," she says, "But I'm getting some good data on her some of her attacks." "I'm seeing how they're landing blows on her, and how she's recovering," says Luna. "I know that's what'll spell disaster for her," says Sailor Jupiter. "At least they're coming up with good strategy to really take it to her until she figures it out," says Sailor Venus. "She's fast alright. They just have to be faster," says Luna as they continue watching. "But it doesn't seem to be working," says Sailor Jupiter, noticing that the momentum has now shifted back in Deanna's favor, "She seems to have figured them out and is beating the daylights out of them." "It's only a perfect opportunity for me to scan her attacks while the momentum is in her favor," says Sailor Mercury as continues scanning Deanna. "How long are they gonna go on like this?" Sailor Jupiter asks. "Until either they defeat Deanna, she defeats them, or she gives up," Luna replies. "Just watch," says Sailor Venus, "Because we aren't going to drag the next battle out." Deanna continues laying it on, using telekinesis to literally throw the 3 warriors around like toys. After demonstrating her telekinetic abilities, she teleports to where Tuxedo Inferno had landed. Tuxedo Inferno struggles to his feet to see his adversary staring straight into his masked eyes. "Psychic Wave," she says in a deep tone as water ripples emanate from her. Tuxedo Inferno fights it and fights it hard. But Tuxedo Inferno's become too weak from the battle to combat Deanna's mind attack as it overcomes him and knocks him to the ground with a good migraine. "You three fought well," Deanna commends, "but it's time to end this". She teleports near where Sailor Moon is recovering from a telekinetic flight, then throws her arms in Sailor Moon's direction, "Psychic Beam." She fires a bright blue beam at her, sending Sailor Moon into the tower. Sailor Moon slowly slides to the ground, still conscious but too dazed to even care. Deanna then turns to Sailor Mars, who is already on her feet standing ready. "And since you challenged me, Sailor Mars, I'll answer it," says Deanna as she lifts her right arm, while a psychic force grabs a hold of Sailor Mars. She then raises her arm, at the same time lifting Sailor Mars off the ground. She waves her arm toward the tower, sending Sailor Mars into it with great force, giving her quite a headache. Deanna then slowly moves her arm back in front of her, peeling Sailor Mars from the tower and back to where she started. "Goodbye, Sailor Mars," she says as she swiftly lifts her arm, sending Sailor Mars flying high into the air. She then drops her arm, releasing her telekinetic grip and letting Sailor Mars fall to the ground below. Sailor Mars strikes the concrete hard, knocking all energy from her as she lies unconscious. Tuxedo Inferno watches as his younger sister falls to Deanna rather easily. Fighting his bad headache, he slowly makes it to his feet. He draws his flame sword from his obsidian jewel ring, does a few sword moves, and points it at Deanna. "Don't you ever do that to my sister," he says in a deep voice, "Inferno Fire, BEAM!!!" With what's left of his energy, he fires a powerful beam of fire at Deanna. As soon as Deanna realizes Tuxedo Inferno has recovered, it's too late to react as the beam strikes her in the chest and drills her into a nearby truck. Tuxedo Inferno falls to his knees, figuring he's defeated her, only to see her get up from the attack a little quicker than usual. 'Damn, she threw her shield up,' he thinks to himself. "I see this battle's going nowhere," says Deanna, "Call this a stalemate, for now. Next time, there will be no stalemate." Deanna teleports away, ending the battle. Tuxedo Inferno falls to his hands, breathing heavily as fire surrounds his body, then extinguishes, revealing his civilian form. Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, Sailor Jupiter, and Luna jump down from the tower and approach him after a rather long observation. "Russell," Sailor Mercury calls out to him. "You all did great out there," says Sailor Venus. "I can't believe she just left," says Sailor Jupiter. "I had her, she was this close," Russell says, measuring out with his fingers, "and she had to throw her damned psychic shield up." "Russell," Sailor Mercury says, holding out her closed minicomputer, "Right here is everything you'll need to defeat her." Russell looks at it, still breathing heavily, still pondering the battle. "At least we now know how she moves," says Luna, "and I also got to see her for myself." Russell, still breathing heavily, just looks at Sailor Mercury's minicomputer, wondering what she's doing. He then instinctively takes it and gazes down at the Mercury symbol that adorns it. "Sure this was a battle to watch how Deanna moves, but I wanted to defeat her so badly," Russell says, clinching the minicomputer in his hand. "Russell," Sailor Mercury says, laying her hand on his shoulder. Russell looks up at her, seeing the face of his beloved Amy whom his favorite Sailor Scout resembles. "Look over what I scanned. We'll hold a Scout meeting tonight at your place," she says as she gives his shoulder a gentle, loving squeeze. Russell smiles at her, "Thanks, Amy. Grandpa will surely have some fun with you girls tonight." Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury help Russell up, while Sailor Venus is already walking Sailor Moon to them. "I'll get Raye," says Sailor Jupiter as she runs to help her. That night, Cherry Hill Temple... Russell lies down in his room, continuing to look over the data that Sailor Mercury had gathered on Deanna as if it were one of the soccer tapes on the other teams he had been shown during soccer season. He looks at some of the video recordings Sailor Mercury had made and thinks about how resourceful she can be with that visor of hers. He also looks over some of the graphical diagrams of the battle, them, and Deanna. He also looks over the data on Deanna's psychic energy and is surprised at the fact that her energy is off the charts, "Damn, this must be some paranormal force we're dealing with here. It's as if she's human infused with extraterrestrial powers. How could she have been born with such powers?" Then, there is a knock at the door. "Come in," Russell replies. The door opens and in walks Romano. "Yes Romano?" he asks, quickly closing Sailor Mercury's minicomputer. "Oh cool, you have a new Sailor Mercury pocket computer," he says. "Oh... I'm just burrowing Amy's," Russell replies, covering the truth up. "Well, you wanna go hang at the sports bar tonight?" he asks, "You know, take a cruise in your new Viper, watch Japan beat the hell out of the England, stuff like that since your sister's friends are gonna be over?" "Oh that's right," Russell says, snapping his fingers. He had forgotten all about the usual soccer nights with Romano, since they both share a similar interest in it. Romano himself isn't too shabby at soccer either, being one of the better players at Crossroads High School. He then thinks about Raye's friends being over for the scout meeting on how to beat Deanna. "What time's the game?" he asks. "Not for another two hours," Romano replies, "Gotta account for the time differences." "In an hour, how's that sound?" Russell asks, "I have some stuff to talk to Lita about while she's here." "Sure, sounds great to me," Romano replies, "See 'ya then." With Romano out of the room, Russell opens the minicomputer and continues studying the data. Not long after, there is a scratch at the door, obviously one from an animal. Russell walks over and slides the door open, and in walks the black crescent-headed cat. "Hi Luna, are they here yet?" he asks. "Not far behind me," Luna replies, "They'll be here in a little bit. So, what have you figured out?" "Actually, one thing confuses me," Russell replies as he turns to all the graphical diagrams and text on Deanna's psychic powers and shows it to Luna. "I too sensed some phenomenal psychic powers in her," Luna comments. "Yes. I knew she was just an ordinary college girl with extraordinary abilities, but after looking at this data, I'm having doubts now. She's clearly human, but I've never heard of any human born with that kind of psychic power," Russell explains. "You do know there are people in this world with psychic abilities. You and Raye are two of them," says Luna. "Grandpa is another, and Amy's old friend Greg was another," Russell adds, "But Raye and I possess strong forms of ESP, while Deanna's is far beyond ESP. She possesses telekinesis, telepathy, and even the ability to teleport. I never knew she could teleport until the first time the Sailor Scouts met her." "I'm also sure you've read of some people in this world born with telekinesis," says Luna. "I know that," Russell replies, "But if you look here, it seems that her abilities are hardly... human. It's as if she was infused with her powers." "I didn't sense any dark energy or negative influence in her. And just as you've told us, I felt no negative feelings of any kind in her," says Luna, "As you all have suspected, she's not of the Negaverse, nor is she a leftover cardian. She's completely human." "But how could she have powers such as this that Amy scanned?" Russell asks. "You ever studied Anthropology?" Luna says, "After today's battle, I brushed up on some Anthropology, and some documented cases. I read about some people having such psychic abilities, both past and present. As rare as it was, there were people who possessed highly advanced psychic abilities." "And Deanna just happens to be another one of those rarities," Russell concludes, "On top of her academic abilities which match mine and Amy's." "Want to know something, Russell?" Luna asks, with a slight smile on her kitty face, "I seriously don't think her powers are superior to Sailor Moon's, or yours." Russell's face sparks up in shock, hearing that from Luna, "You're kidding, right?" "I know it sounds odd, but it's how she fights and how strategic she seems that makes her so difficult to even touch. You just have to overcome her mind, and you can take her. It's more of a battle of brains than brawn," says Luna, encouraging Russell, "Ready to come up with a way to defeat her?" "Am I ever," Russell replies as he walks out of his room with Luna. At the same time, Raye walks in the front door with the other girls. "Glad you're all here," says Russell. "Me too," Grandpa says from the hall as he walks into the living room, "You know, Russell, I think your sister has you beat in bringing girls home." "Maybe that's because she IS a girl," Russell replies before letting out a sweatdrop. "Well, I'm still gonna have fun, whether you bring them or she does," says Grandpa as he walks over to Mina, "You look just like Sailor V. Can I have your number?" "Grandpa!" Raye scolds. "Can't help it, can 'ya?" Russell says under his breath, sweatdrop still hanging. "Sure," Mina replies, "756..." "Ugh, she's just as bad," Russell replies while Raye rolls her eyes back and falls over, "Hey Grandpa, how 'bout I bring home a girl." "Really?" Grandpa says enthusiastically. "One YOUR age," Russell emphasizes. "I'd like to see you start bringing girls here," Grandpa says as he leaves the room, laughing. "I got a girlfriend, I hope you remember that," Russell says down the hall, then turns back to the girls, "So, should we take this in your room?" "At least it'd keep Grandpa off us," Raye replies as they all walk toward Raye's room, "And keep Mina in check too." "Hey, he asked for my number," Mina replies. After walking into Raye's room, they take their seats while Luna hops onto Russell's lap. "Let's keep this short somehow," says Russell, "Romano and I are heading to the sports pub later for our... ritual... soccer game." They watch soccer almost religiously," Raye comments, "Yuuichiro is almost as bad, and they've even gotten Gabianni into it a little more." "Then I say we keep it short," says Serena, "So Russell, what'd you find out from Amy's computer." "Well, a lot actually, some making me wonder how Deanna came to have that kind of psychic power," Russell explains, "All her attacks, as well as defenses, are psychic-based. I didn't see her do any kind of physical attack against us." "Me neither," Raye adds. "Same here," Mina agrees. "She likes to use her mind when she fights, and she uses it to her advantage," says Amy, "But she concentrates on that use of telekinesis a lot." "She also tends to use her beam attack a lot more now," Russell explains, "It seems to be a more concentrated form of telekinesis. It's like she channels it into energy, powerful enough to send us flying." "So she relies on her telekinetic powers," says Lita. "She uses it to throw us about, stop us dead in our tracks, stop our attacks, turn our attacks against us..." Russell goes on saying. "We get the point, Russell," says Raye, cutting him off. Luna gets up on her feet, still on Russell's lap, "Girls, let me tell you something I told Russell. Sure her psychic powers are impressive, but I don't think they're superior to yours." All 5 girls gasp in shock. "They're not," Serena, Mina, and Raye say in unison. "Bullshit," Lita exclaims, "How can they not be superior if she can overcome us so easily?" "It's not just her powers that make her a powerful warrior," says Luna. "It's how she uses them," Russell finishes. "I might have to agree with Luna on that one," says Amy, "She's a very smart girl, and she shows it in how she fights. She is very strategic and quick to adapt to our fighting tactics." "But she does have her flaws," says Lita. "Yeah, after we tried attacking her all at once, she came to me, lifted me with her psychic powers, and tried to point my flaw out," Serena explains, "She was close enough for my leg to give her a good kick. She's done this twice with me already, once in my last battle with her, and in today's battle." "Like she's trying to prove something to us," says Mina, "For a girl with no emotion, she sure likes to show off." "Or just knows what she's capable of, yet only a little of what we're capable of," Amy adds. "It might be something we can use against her," says Raye, "She's smart, resourceful, adaptive, but not the best at multi-tasking." "I saw that," says Amy. "I saw it too," says Luna, "It's as if she concentrates solely on the person or people she's fighting. If we can keep her busy, it might work in our favor." "I don't know," says Russell, "Sure, she seems like she has trouble multi-tasking, but there are times when she's overcome taking on multiple fronts of attack. But today, she seemed to have more trouble taking the three of us down than just Raye and me." "It looks like Deanna is a confusing person to deal with," Luna comments, "Sometimes, she can counter some attacks, while other times, she completely misses them." "But one thing is the same," says Mina. "Right," Russell replies, "The element of surprise." "Like you were saying, Luna, we just have to get her when she's busy doing something else, or strike her when she least expects it," says Raye. "I'm sure she never expected me to throw my tiara at her at point- blank range when I fought her that last time, nor my swinging my leg at her face in today's battle," Serena comments, "And I KNOW she didn't expect my crying to come to good use." "Nor me driving my boot into her gut doing the same teleport trick," Lita adds. "And most of all," says Russell. "Right," all the girls reply in unison, knowing all too well from their last battles, "The Moonlight Knight." "So what's the plan?" Mina asks, getting to the reason for the meeting. "I say hit her, and hit her hard," says Lita. Mina rolls her eyes back at the attitude Lita's had about Deanna since their first battle with her. "I agree," says Amy, bringing disbelief to Mina, "We strike fast and strike hard." "Make sure she never sees some of our attacks coming," Serena adds. "Maybe we can use her relying upon telekinesis against her as well," Raye suggests. "She's swift, but you must think on your feet and be swifter," says Luna. "I take it that's about it in a nutshell," says Serena. "And I don't think we need to discuss any more about Deanna's moves," says Mina, "We have what we need to defeat her." "Then meeting adjourned," says Luna, "Just remember what you saw, what we went over, keep your heads on straight, and you can beat Deanna." "Excuse me while I change," says Russell as he walks out of Raye's room and into his. He quickly jumps out of his white T-shirt and into a red and white Japan Soccer T-shirt. After he walks out of the room, he finds that the entire group has already left. He figures they're just outside since he and Romano are going to be gone anyway. He takes a seat on the couch while he waits for Romano to get ready for their night at the sports pub. "Hey Russell," a female voice summons from near. He looks at the familiar blonde meatballs of the girl standing at the front door from where the voice emanated, "Hi Serena." Though he never paid attention to what she and the other girls were wearing, he notes her light blue striped blouse and dark blue pleated skirt, topped off with short white socks and black Mary Janes, as if she was ready to leave. Maybe it was the fact that he was no longer concentrating on the meeting and how to beat Deanna that made him notice his surroundings in more detail. "Mind if I sit down?" she asks. "Sure, by all means. What's on your mind?" Russell replies as Serena takes her seat, crossing her left leg over her right and slipping her shoes off. She barely had to fix her skirt since it was cut down to the middle of her shins. The outfit, however, only complemented her beauty. It makes him wonder how she couldn't be more princess-like. Sure, she has her ditzy and overly giddy moments, but how could any guy not notice her loving and cheering personality and divine beauty under the more childish mask she tends to wear. "Darien deserves you," Russell says, catching Serena by surprise. "What?" she wonders. "Nothing," he replies, dismissing his thoughts about the meatball- headed girl, "What was on your mind?" "Oh, Raye talked to me before the meeting, and again afterwards. She cares a lot about you," says Serena. "But... she usually does, being my sister and all," Russell explains, "What makes now any different?" "The meeting before today's battle? It was all Raye's idea," says Serena. "Raye, drawing up battle plans?" Russell questions. "Actually, Amy came up with most of the strategy, but it was Raye's idea. She saw how Deanna affected you since she transferred to your school. You're her biggest rival, since you both share extraordinary abilities and intellect. Raye knows how you feel, and is there for you," Serena explains. "So why'd she want to do all this, calling a scout meeting early, deciding to fight Deanna now by looking for her?" Russell asks. "She just wants to help you," Serena replies, before taking Russell's hand in hers. Russell is tempted to pull back, not only because he has Amy, but also because Serena loves Darien, "Wanna know what she told me? Her seeing you sad, worried, angry, depressed, and all after your first two battles with Deanna has her down in the dumps too. She loves you, and she wants to do something about it. And this was the way for her to do it, by helping you to claim victory over Deanna." "I was wondering why Raye was worried all those times since I first met Deanna," says Russell, "I didn't know my troubles over Deanna had Raye that worried about me." "Well, now you know," Serena says, smiling and letting Russell's hand go, "We're all behind you now, and your sister wants to see you happy again." "Oh believe me, she'll see that after I beat Deanna," says Russell, "Raye's right. Defeating Deanna in battle just once will make me happier. Hell, I'm more confident in myself now that I know not only how I but how we can beat her." "It's working," Serena says, with an even bigger and more beautiful smile on her face, "Your sister knows you all too well." "Hey Russell," Romano's voice calls out as he emerges from the hall, wearing his replica Team Japan soccer jersey. Russell looks up at him, "Ready to watch Japan whoop some English butt?" "You bet I am," Romano says as Russell gets up and grabs his car keys. "Russell," Serena addresses. Russell walks to the front door and looks back at her. "Cheer up, okay?" she says, showing that beautiful smile of hers again. 'Damn, I don't see why Darien wouldn't fall for her,' Russell thinks to himself, "Don't worry, I'll be fine." He then turns and walks outside and towards the temple steps with Romano close behind. "She's pretty hot if you ask me," Romano praises. "Hey, hey, she already likes Darien," Russell says, cutting him off. "I've seen her often when Raye would bring her over, but even if they do fight a lot, I still think she's a very pretty girl," says Romano. "Yeah, she may be a little crazy sometimes, but she's definitely someone any guy would fall for. I hope Darien sees what I, Raye, and the others see in her," Russell explains, "He deserves someone like her. He'd be a wonderful gentleman to her." Both men hop into Russell's Viper and drive off towards downtown, ready to watch Japan win another game. The Next Morning... Russell opens his eyes to a beam of sunlight creeping its way through the slit between his slightly open window shutters. He turns over to his alarm clock to find it is rather early for him to be up on a weekend. He only grunts in response and turns back over, throwing his covers over his face. "Must... sleep..." he mumbles to himself. After a long night at the sports pub, watching a really good soccer game between Japan and England, Russell sure came home rather late. Gabianni had to help the tipsy Russell into his room, while Yuuichiro took the wheel of Russell's car to bring it back to the temple. Good thing he was smart enough to call home after he and Romano had a little too much fun celebrating every goal Japan made and cursing everything that went wrong, such as England scoring. Russell gets back up moments later, feeling the after effects of his drunken night. "What a weird night," Russell tells himself after shaking the cobwebs out, yet still feeling sore, "A game with Japan and England, yet the drinks were American and Mexican." "Call it a 'Multicultural night' you guys had. Throw in Crocodile Dundee and a few elephants and you've gone around the world in one night," Yuuichiro says through the door, "Talking to yourself again like you did last night?" "Yeah, a little," Russell sarcastically replies through the door, "Next time, I'll be sure to go down the river Nile for you." "Lucky your sister was asleep and didn't see you and Romano come in drunk last night," says Yuuichiro, "She would've had a cow, especially with you." "She's seen me come in drunk before," says Russell, "You remember that night after we slaughtered Yokohama U?" 'Ouch,' Yuuichiro thinks to himself, knowing Russell has struck hard with the time Yuuichiro got loaded with the rest of the guys. Even Darien had a couple drinks that night. But Yuuichiro sure made a fool out of himself, especially after they all got home, to the point that he got a good slap from Raye for his foolishness. "Yeah, and you got a good yelling at from her after we sobered up," Yuuichiro rebuts. "I think I'm gonna go out for a jog," Russell says after changing into some blue and gray jogging clothes during the little exchange of words, "try and loosen up after last night." "Sure, take it easy, Russell," Yuuichiro replies as he walks off. Meanwhile, Russell sits at his desk with a pen and paper in hand. He writes a short note to Raye, remembering that they were to have jiu-jitsu practice after Raye's fire reading. So after writing an apology for not being able to make the practice until late and his reason, while leaving out the fact that he and Romano got a little too carried away, he walks out and leaves it in the living room on the coffee table. With that done, he walks out the front door and embarks on his long jog. Meanwhile, Raye has already begun her fire reading right as Russell had gotten up. This is a rather normal weekly fire reading for her, one she performs as part of her Shinto practices every Sunday. She didn't need to search for anything on Deanna or any other hidden danger lurking about, so this was a more relaxed moment for Raye. She could just carry on her practices as if the Sailor Scouts didn't even exist. In her visions, she sees Russell's deep worries beginning to fade away. This comes as no surprise since they had just found a way to end Russell's worries and defeat Deanna in battle. She then sees the good times she has with everyone. Serena, Amy, Lita, and Mina are great company, and have helped bring out the best in Raye. Her vision then focuses on Serena, the girl who showed up at the temple when news of tourists disappearing from the temple hit the city. It was Serena who introduced her to Amy, and it's Serena who always cheers her up. Serena may be the cheerful type, but this vision shows something different. She sees Serena as the Moon Princess, with a single tear rolling down her cheek. She kneels over the body of a fallen Prince Endymion, as many images of Darien, including Raye's dates with him, flash in the background. Serena herself then transforms into her present self, wearing her blue and white Crossroads Jr. High uniform. She remains in the same kneeling position, with the same tear rolling down her cheek. But this time, Endymion's fallen body is nowhere to be seen. Raye knows what this vision means. Serena never once got to have a date with Darien, and not once did she even kiss him. Now, Darien has lost all memory of him ever feeling such love for such a pretty and cheerful young lady, and Serena worries deeply over it. Her visions then change back to Russell, and his disappearing worries through the good times that he's been having. She sees Russell's face when he first climbed into the cab of his new car, after being shipped to Japan. She sees the pride he has in his new car, and the pride he had in his old one. She sees the fun time he and Gabianni had fixing their cars and having their joy ride. And then, she sees last night at the sports pub, Russell and Romano both cheering their teams on, with schooners of beer in hand. 'They got drunk last night,' her voice echoes in her vision, 'I figured they would have that much fun and get Russell's mind off things. At least they didn't cause too much commotion afterwards. But I'll keep quiet about it this time.' Then suddenly, that vision changes as Russell is being dwarfed by a rather gigantic robed figure, holding both hands up high and blasting him with bolts of lightning. The eyes then glow an all too familiar bright blue. 'Your brother,' Deanna's voice echoes in her vision, 'I have him now.' That immediately breaks Raye from her vision. Her eyes flash open, sweat beading on her face, "Oh my god, he's in danger." She gets up and briskly walks out of the worship room. She scurries through the living room towards her room, before the note lying on the table catches her eye. "What's this?" she asks herself as she walks over to it and picks it up. "Raye, I know you're doing your weekly worship, but I'm gonna be late coming home for jiu-jitsu practice. I woke up not feeling too well from ~~~ lack of sleep after a great night at the pub. Oh, and Japan gave England a beating, 6 to 4. GO JAPAN!!!!! So I'm out jogging along the lake trail at the park to shake the cobwebs out from it. I'm sure I'll get to feeling better after a nice jog. Go ahead and start practice without me. I should be there about an hour after you all start. I'm so sorry that I'm gonna be late, I hope you'll forgive me. Love 'ya, sis. ~ Russell" Raye gasps in response, knowing all too well what is happening, or what is about to happen. "Oh my god, Deanna's gonna attack Russell at the park," she says to herself, "Hell, Russell's probably there already, and Deanna's probably there too." She runs into her room, flying past Yuuichiro in the process. "Whoa, careful there, Raye," he says in response after she had missed him by inches, "You forget something?" Raye then dashes back out, again missing Yuuichiro by inches. "Sorry, Yuuichiro," she hollers as she races out the back door. She then pulls out her communicator that she had gotten out of her room. "Scouts, Russell's in trouble. Go to the park, and hurry," she frantically cries out into it. She then sprints into the woods of the temple grounds, pulling out her transformation pen. "Mars Power!" Meanwhile, Russell jogs along the lakeside trail, slowly working out his sore joints through the fluid motions of jogging. Sure, he and Romano had a great night, but the after effects aren't always the greatest. While he's running, it gives him time to not only loosen up his sore body, but help him clear his mind and think about other stuff. While running, he had a lot on his mind, especially yesterday. The fun times were on his mind as well as the tough times. But now, he is determined to end what internal conflict was going on inside of him. Suddenly, as he continues running, he feels a familiar presence, as if he had just passed right by it. He stops right in the middle of the trail and instinctively looks back, hoping to prove his ESP wrong. That hope dies in an instant as the familiar purple hair of his adversary catches his eye. He notes her tightly fit black T-shirt, short black skirt, and knee-high black leather high-heeled boots. He seems to more at ease with her more hostile presence since he's actually noting her features as he did with Serena the night before. '"I see you've found me,"' her voice echoes in his mind, '"And I also see you're admiring my physical elegance."' She turns to him and slowly walks toward him. Immediately, Russell puts both fists up and takes up a fighting stance, anticipating Deanna's intentions. "You're mind has grown since our first meetings," she says, "You seem to have an easier time not letting your emotions get the best of you and making you weak." She stops no more than 20 feet from him, not even assuming a battle pose. "I also see you've gained a new found confidence since our last meeting. Let's see if all that reflects in battle," she says, then deepening her tone, "Russell Hino, I challenge you to a duel." "You want me?" Russell says as he raises his obsidian jewel ring, with fire surrounding his body as he transforms into Tuxedo Inferno, "You got me." He strikes a kung fu battle pose, holds his palm up, and waves Deanna over, "Just bring it." "Such conceited words," says Deanna as her eyes glow bright blue, "I must commend you for finding some confidence in yourself." "His confidence isn't the only thing that's made him stronger," a female voice calls out to her. Deanna turns her attention toward the pavilions, where all 5 familiar legends stand ready for battle, with Sailor Moon being the one who called to her. "You may be a school girl like the rest of us, you may have your moments of compassion, but your deeds have hurt the pride and motivation of such a bright young man," says Sailor Moon. "You battle him at your own free will, like that of any evil," says Sailor Mars, "I don't care if you claim no evil." "You don't even fight on equal grounds. Just because you have no emotion doesn't mean you should use ours against us," says Sailor Jupiter. "The mind is a wonderful gift, and you use that gift to take advantage of those who use their minds for righteous goals," says Amy. "Not only have you hurt his love and pride, but you hurt his friends around him through his pain," says Sailor Venus, "You brought fear and worry to those who care for him. Don't you have anyone who thinks about you, who cares about you, who loves you?" Tuxedo Inferno only looks back, his determination showing in his rather stern face. "Please, it's just her and me this time," he says. "Tuxedo Inferno," Sailor Moon argues back, "We're the Sailor Scouts. We're a team. We came to you to fulfill the promise to return the favor you've done for us on many occasions. If you're more confident, then we're more confident and more determined to give Deanna the fight of her life." "So you all have gained confidence," Deanna easily concludes, "Your friendship must be strong if your minds and confidence have grown together. I should only expect more out of you in this battle." Her eyes glow bright blue as she throws both arms in front of her, sending Tuxedo flying to the pavilion and landing him at the Sailor Scouts' feet. "Remember what we went over," Sailor Moon says. "Right," the rest of the scouts say in unison as they quickly separate. Tuxedo Inferno quickly gets to his feet and stands with Sailor Moon. "We have to strike fast and try to distract her," he says to Sailor Moon, "Maybe the others will get lucky and nail her." "You got it," Sailor Moon replies. She removes her tiara as Tuxedo Inferno stands ready in case Deanna teleports. "Moon Tiara Action," Sailor Moon cries out as she throws her tiara at Deanna. All went according to plan as Deanna teleports out of the way a split second before the tiara struck. She reappears off toward the side, with her eyes glowing bright blue and ready to attack. Tuxedo Inferno sees his chance and waves his arms in Kung Fu fashion, "Inferno Fire Dance!" He dashes towards Deanna and dances about at light- speed, setting the area around her in flames and striking her with well- placed dance moves. He returns to where Sailor Moon is and looks on as Deanna begins recovering from his attack. "I must praise you, Tuxedo Inferno," says Deanna, "I see this is going to be a great battle." Tuxedo Inferno only holds his palm up, and waves Deanna over, taunting her. In response, Deanna's eyes glow bright blue as Tuxedo Inferno's body begins levitating above the ground. "Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" With Deanna concentrating on Tuxedo Inferno, Sailor Venus finds the opportunity to land a blow on Deanna. This use of the distraction proves to work as Sailor Venus' beam strikes Deanna in the back, knocking her over towards where Tuxedo Inferno and Sailor Moon stand. "Sailor Kick!" Sailor Moon yells as she gives Deanna a good kick, sending her flying into the branches of a tree. All 5 scouts watch, waiting for Deanna to come out of the tree and give them a real fight. After a minute, Deanna only stands up in the tree, waiting for the scouts to make their next move. "Damn, I've had enough of this," Sailor Jupiter swears, feeling the frustration of just standing there doing nothing. She crosses her arms in front of her, "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" She sends multiple bolts of lightning into the tree, hoping to strike a blow on Deanna. Right as the bolts hit the tree, Deanna teleports right behind her and waves her arms to the sides, sending Sailor Jupiter flying into the same tree with telekinesis. The other scouts catch Deanna rather quickly and launch their attacks. "Mars Fire Ignite!" "Mercury Ice Bubbles Blast!" "Venus Meteor Shower!" All three of their attacks fly at Deanna from 3 different angles. Deanna immediately sees this and reacts. "Psychic Aura," she says, throwing her psychic shield up just in time to protect herself from the 3 attacks. All 3 gaze in amazement as their attacks fail. "She's adapting," says Sailor Mercury. "Then we have to move faster," says Sailor Mars. As they prepare for another attack, Deanna glances at Sailor Venus and points her finger at her, eyes glowing bright blue. Instantaneously, the telekinetic force sends Sailor Venus flying across the field and into the lake. But as she turns to Sailor Mars, a bolt of lightning strikes her from the side, knocking her to the ground and in front of Tuxedo Inferno. 'I'll distract her while my sister takes her,' he thinks to himself as he jumps back. He waves his arms to his side, sending a ball of fire floating above him. There, he waits as Deanna gets to her feet. 'What's he doing?' she thinks to herself, 'He's a fool to just stand there rather than fight.' Tuxedo Inferno finds his moment as Sailor Mars takes her position behind Deanna and pulls a scroll out. 'Perfect,' he thinks to himself. "Inferno Flame!" he says as he waves his arm at Deanna, sending the ball of fire flying at Deanna. Deanna only stands there, without so much as a flinch. Right as he sends it flying at her, she feels someone trying to take her from behind. 'So this is why he hesitated,' she thinks to herself. She teleports out of the way right as the fireball comes within a hair of her. Sailor Mars, however, drops her scroll and throws her arms in front of her as the fireball strikes her and sends her rolling on the grass. Tuxedo Inferno feels someone reappear behind him and immediately turns around, only to catch Deanna's glowing eyes for a split second. Just as he caught the glimpse of her, her telekinetic powers overtake him and send him flying into his sister just as she was getting up. "She's gaining on us," Sailor Venus says a while after crawling out of the lake, right as Deanna teleports again. She reappears right next to the fallen siblings. "Stop her," Sailor Moon barks. Sailor Jupiter is quick to respond as she begins charging her. Deanna turns her head and catches the charging Sailor Jupiter. '"You think I'll let you try that against me a second time?"' she tells her telepathically. She turns to Sailor Jupiter to meet her head on. As Sailor Jupiter draws her fist back to give Deanna a furious punch, Deanna throws her palm out in front of her, stopping Sailor Jupiter with telekinesis. Sailor Jupiter struggles against the psychic paralysis, inching closer and closer to Deanna. "You thought you could try your physical prowess against me a second time, did you, Sailor Jupiter," Deanna says. As Sailor Jupiter nearly makes it to Deanna, she lifts her arm, lifting Sailor Jupiter off the ground. But as Deanna draws her arm back to send her thundering adversary flying, a tiara strikes her from behind, knocking her face down to the ground. "Yes!" Sailor Moon says in celebration. Deanna recovers from that attack and turns to Sailor Moon, "You're celebrating a little early, Sailor Moon." She then throws her arms in front of her, "Psychic Beam!" She blasts Sailor Moon with a beam of psychic energy, giving boisterous warrior her frequent flyer miles, "This battle isn't over yet." She then senses something coming at her from behind. She turns behind her to find a dragon of lightning flying at her. Immediately, she grabs a hold of it with her telekinetic powers and searches for Sailor Jupiter. Fortunately, she looks to her right and finds both Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury standing together, getting ready for another attack. Deanna only lightly waves her left hand at them, sending the beast of lightning flying at them. "Oh no," Sailor Mercury says as she and Sailor Jupiter take cover. It only proves useless as the dragon separates them and sends them flying about the park. "Damn, she's getting tough," Sailor Venus says as Deanna immediately finds her. Sailor Venus only stares her down, hoping to give her friends enough time to recover. 'It's just her and me now,' she thinks to herself, 'Time to show her what Sailor V means to me.' "You're more experienced than the others," says Deanna, "More experienced than even Sailor Moon. I already know Sailor Venus was once Sailor V. There was a big rumor going about that she wasn't dead after all, but had returned as Sailor Venus. That rumor was never proven true, but Sailor V merchandise sells even better than ever." "Tell me something I don't know," says Sailor Venus, "It was when I discovered I was Sailor Venus and the rumor going about that boosted Sailor V popularity in the first place." "And you bask in that popularity," says Deanna, "You do know much of the public doesn't even know that you were Sailor V." "But I did affect the lives of many, both in England and here in Japan," says Sailor Venus. "Enough of dwelling on your past fame," says Deanna, "The point is now. Being Sailor V gave you better fighting experience than the rest of the Sailor Scouts, and Tuxedo Mask and Tuxedo Inferno." "So what does all that have to do with anything?" Sailor Venus asks, "Sailor V means a lot to me, but now I'm Sailor Venus, the scout of love and beauty. I fight for love and justice along with the other Sailor Scouts. I may have been Sailor V, and I may have the experience from it, but we're all a team." She notices that her stalling Deanna is working as most of the scouts and Tuxedo Inferno recover from Deanna's onslaught. Sailor Venus smiles at Deanna, making her opponent wonder what's on her mind, "And as a team, we will defeat you and help Tuxedo Inferno claim his victory over you," she continues as she throws her pointer finger in the air, charging her attack. "Venus Crescent Beam, Smash!" She fires her crescent beam at Deanna. Deanna, however, stops the beam and turns it back toward Sailor Venus. "NOW!" she barks before dodging the reflected attack, as Sailor Mars goes up to bat first. "Mars Fire Ignite!" she says as she fires a ball of fire at Deanna. With Deanna distracted from turning Sailor Venus' attack, the ball of fire strikes her in the side. "Quick, fog this place up and strike her while she's down," Sailor Venus orders, "Strike hard, and strike constantly." "Right," Sailor Mercury acknowledges as she gathers the power in her hands, "Mercury Bubbles, Blast!" With that, a thick fog falls over the park, making it impossible for them to see even a few feet in front of them. Sailor Jupiter is up to bat next. Knowing where Deanna last was, she bum rushes that area, hoping Deanna is still there. "Right on, Sailor Jupiter," Sailor Mercury praises, donning her visor and having Deanna and her location locked on. Sailor Jupiter smiles when Deanna comes into view. "Bitch, you're gonna pay with blood," Sailor Jupiter yells as she gives Deanna a few punches to the mid-section and then to the face before disappearing into the fog. Sailor Venus immediately takes bat next and charges Deanna. As she makes it to Deanna, she clotheslines Deanna, knocking her to the ground. "Little do you know, Deanna, is that we too don't need our eyes to fight," says Sailor Moon through the fog, "You may have your advantages over us, but we have our own advantage, and that's teamwork. Alone, we're powerful, but together, we're legendary." Sailor Mercury keeps her visor locked onto Deanna, carefully watching her moves and directing the other scouts to her location. She sees that Deanna makes it to her feet. "Tuxedo Inferno, now!" she orders. Tuxedo Inferno immediately waves his arms in kung-fu fashion, "Inferno Fire, Beam!" he says as he throws his arms in front of him, launching a beam of fire into the blind fog, having faith in Sailor Mercury's abilities. His faith is not misplaced as the beam strikes Deanna and sends her flying right to where Sailor Mars is standing. Sailor Mars only stands there as Deanna is slow to get to her knees. She then engulfs her hands in flames and draws her flaming fist back, "I'll teach you to harm the loving person my brother is," she says as she violently uppercuts Deanna in the gut, sending her flying again. She lands somewhere in the middle of the park, still enveloped by fog. She barely begins getting to her knees when Sailor Jupiter walks up to her. She is then quickly yanked up as Sailor Jupiter has her by the throat with both hands. "This is for embarrassing Russell," she says, "and for embarrassing me." An antenna pops from her tiara, "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" She sends electricity through her hands, giving Deanna a nasty shock. "Now it's our turn to show you what the Sailor Scouts are made of," she says as she throws Deanna to the ground in front of her. She then crosses her arms in front of her, "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" She blasts Deanna with a strong bolt of lightning, further weakening her. Deanna falls to her knees, with quite a bit of energy drained from her. "Tuxedo Inferno, claim your victory," Sailor Mars calls out from somewhere I the fog. Tuxedo Inferno is silent, knowing that with the help of his friends the Sailor Scouts he can defeat Deanna. He rips his mask from his face, revealing the bright orange glow of his eyes. He then throws his arms out to his sides and slowly begins raising them. With that, flames begin igniting all around him as he charges his attack. "Inferno..." he yells as Deanna slowly makes it to her feet, "...FURY!!!" With that, he waves his arm at her, sending a massive cyclone of fire at her. Deanna is quick to react, "Psychic Aura." But with how much strength she's lost from the battle, the fiery cyclone engulfs the park all around Deanna, striking her as well. She gets the feeling of being in hell itself as the fiery cyclone slowly drains her energy from her psychic aura trying to fend it off. When the cyclone finally clears, she is on her hands and knees, with her clothes scorched and the rest of her body covered in soot, but still struggling. "Damn, she threw her barrier up again," Tuxedo Inferno says to himself as he drops to his knees from the massive attack he launched, "but at least I have her defeated. Now for Sailor Moon to finish her off." With the fog burnt away by his furious attack, he looks for Sailor Moon. To his surprise, he finds all 5 scouts standing, "Sailor Moon, now." "Right," Sailor Moon says as she pulls her scepter out. She then twirls it about, charging it's power in a lovely display of baton twirling. Fully charged now, she then points it at Deanna, "Moon Scepter Elimination!" She fires a crescent light at Deanna, striking her. Deanna screams in pain as the light drains what's left of her strength. When the light vanishes, she falls to her knees, then to the ground, unconscious. Tuxedo Inferno makes it back to his feet and runs over to Deanna. He kneels beside her and places his fingers on her neck. "What are you doing, Tuxedo Inferno?" Sailor Jupiter protests. "Yeah, with your help, we finally defeated her," Sailor Venus adds. "I'm making sure we didn't kill her with that onslaught," he replies, "She may be our enemy, but she's only human just like the rest of us. She has a life outside of fighting us, and goes to school just like we do. She won't deny us our learning, so we won't deny her that either." "I totally understand Russell," Sailor Mars says. "He's learned to not let her get to him so easily," says Sailor Moon. "We all noticed it in how confident you were in this battle," says Sailor Mercury. "She's got a pulse, so she'll live. She's just a little beat up from the fight, that's all," says Tuxedo Inferno, "Come on, let's go home. I may have claimed my first victory over her, with your help of course, but I doubt this'll be the last battle that any of us will fight against her." "At least we let her know just what the Sailor Scouts are made of," Sailor Moon says as she tosses a sheet of paper in Deanna's direction, "You're right, Tuxedo Inferno. Let's go home." With their first victory over Deanna on their minds, they walk out of the park and towards their homes. Later, Deanna regains consciousness from her first loss to Tuxedo Inferno and the Sailor Scouts. As she makes it to her knees, a headache hits her hard, reminding her of the beating she took from them. She turns herself around and sits on the grass, then begins brushing the soot off of her. After that, she finds a sheet of paper attached to a rock. She picks it up and finds it to be a letter to her, and begins reading it. "We hope today's battle gave you a taste of the real power of the Sailor Scouts. We hope it showed you who the real victors were in this battle, and who clearly are the stronger warriors. You may have a great mind, but you don't have the teamwork we do, and today it was teamwork that prevailed. Since we know this won't be the first time we cross paths, keep your eyes peeled, 'cause we'll be watching you. ~ The Sailor Scouts" "So they truly are legendary after all," she says to herself. With thoughts of her first loss on her mind, she gets to her feet and walks out of the park, towards her apartment. That night, Deanna's apartment... Deanna lies on her bed in her well-decorated room. The black light highlights the stars and spiral designs on the walls and ceiling. Even the curtain of star and diamond beads in the doorway glow under the black light. She never thinks much of it, but she decorates her room suiting to her psychic personality. Her purple lava lamp on her nightstand adds to the room décor, as well as creates a nice nightlight. She may have her psychic powers to guide herself in total darkness, but she does use lights like any normal person would. There on her bed, she ponders the whole time she knew Russell, 'He may be my enemy, Tuxedo Inferno, but just like Serena said, we're all here to get an education. He's a completely different person when he's not Tuxedo Inferno. He studies hard just like I do, and does his best to have a social life, something I can live without. He and I are indeed alike. We have similar academic abilities, we both have psychic abilities, and he works hard toward his goals as I do with mine. Maybe he was right in that we could've ended up being great friends, like he and Darien are. But, we both have extraordinary powers, ones that compete with each other. We prove our worth in battle, and today, he showed more determination than he ever did.' She then thinks about the others, 'His friends, the Sailor Scouts, may be legendary, but even Serena tries her best when it comes to school. She has her life, school, friends, worries, and family like anyone else does. Me, I have no family, not since my parents died when I was young. Lita and I are alike, in that we both grew up alone. It affected her completely opposite the way it affected me, for I had already lost my emotions before mine died. Amy seems to worry a lot about her academics. Her goals and my goals are alike. We both want to expand our horizons, especially through massive studies. Mina seems to bask in her fame as Sailor V, and even uses that to idolize others who have public fame. I wonder why she can't keep a guy. She must like the attention. Raye, she's closer to my archnemesis than the others are. She's close to her brother, and very protective of him. She proved that to me yesterday. She's a psychic like her brother and I, but like her brother, her psychic abilities are inferior to mine. Some have found her psychic abilities abnormal and avoided her for it. Few have avoided me for mine, but I also don't need a social life.' Then finally, she reevaluates the battle, 'Today was the best they've proven against me in battle. They adapted well to my abilities and used teamwork to their advantage. They've finally begun showing their true prowess, especially Tuxedo Inferno. This will only help me in expanding my psychic abilities. Before I met Russell, I never had any equal to contend with to further expand my psychic powers.' With those thoughts on her mind, she rethinks her current scenario, "Tuxedo Inferno showed more determination than ever, and so did the Sailor Scouts. It's as if they meant to give me good competition, and gave me a tougher time in battle. I may have lost this battle, but they're right in what they wrote in their letter. This won't be the first time we cross paths. Our meetings, our competition, and my quest to become a master psychic have only begun," she says to herself. Her eyes glow bright blue as she uses her telekinetic powers to flip the switch, turning out her black lights. With her near future, both in school and in battle, on her mind, she gently closes her eyes and silently slips into sleep. ---------------------------------the end------------------------------- Well, it took me a long time through college classes, job training, and work, as well as a few major changes in my life, to finally finish this fanfic. It definitely is THE longest fanfic I've ever written. But seriously, if this were still high school or early college, I would've finished this fic much quicker and have already gotten a number of others out. Enough of my Okie babblin'. So, how do you like "Mind Over Fire"? And how do you like Deanna? This is the only fanfic that I'm usin' her "dub" name. Her Japanese name that I'll be using in future fics is "Kokorono Meijin". Go read her profile if you want more information on that. Da'gum I'm babblin' too much. The whole fic shows you quite a bit of her character, as well as a little of her history. And now that Tuxedo Inferno and the Sailor Scouts have finally defeated her in battle, their little competition should be more on equal grounds now. So, with that kind of ending, you can bet I'm gonna write more fanfics featuring Deanna/Meijin as the central villain. So, keep your eyes peeled for my next project in the series I shall dub "Psychic Inferno", as well as the other projects I have planned in my "new line" of fanfics. So e-mail me with comments, a'ight? OOOOOOO O O O U O U BOOMER O U O U SOONER! O U O U OOOUOOO U U U UUUUUUU Have a nice day, Sailor Moon fans, Viper Inferno
